turnip question

This is my first year planting a brassica mix. The plot did great
As far as growth goes, huge radishes pt turnips bigger than softballs.
I know it takes deer a while to catch on to brassicas sometimes.
We had real hard freezes early then warm weather. Radishes are mush as
expected, but I noticed the turnips are getting soft.Is this normal?
Will the deer be interested in them at all? Any input would be helpful.
Thank you.

First year I planted radishes and turnips, it warmed up in late fall after hard freezes and it smelled like rotten garbage, like real bad. Deer still pounded them. The radishes will rot and and you'll be left with what looks like a bunch of snake holes in the ground. They'll keep eating the turnips until they're gone. Mine are soft now as well.

I had a couple of acres in PT turnips and they were destroyed (eaten) by the first week of November. I was disappointed they didn't make it until late season. I will have to plant more or fence in future years.
