    Sharpening Broadheads and Replacement Blades

It always amazes me how many hunters are satisfied with the level of sharpness straight out of the package. Most breadheads simply don’t come as sharp as they should be. I’d go so far as to say it is unethical to fail to sharpen one’s broadheads to their maximum potential. And who wants to risk...

    SF581 IT AIN'T DEAD YET

https://governor.iowa.gov/press-release/gov-reynolds-signs-several-bills-into-law%C2%A0-3 Friday, June 17, 2022 Today, Governor Kim Reynolds signed the following bills into law: … SF581 A bill for an act relating to fishing and hunting licenses and permits.

    SF581 IT AIN'T DEAD YET

That goes to my point. The third deer herd healthiness tuning knob in my post is when those deer may be harvested. If we are having a problem with trophy bucks being harvested after they’ve shed, the issue is with the timing of the season and not the method of take. That said, I hunt to fill...

    SF581 IT AIN'T DEAD YET

There’s nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion. I’ve explained, multiple times, why arbitrary caliber restrictions amount to government overreach. I’ve also explained why the appropriate knobs to tune to manage the health of our deer herd are the following: 1. Which deer may be...

Let’s hope the Governor signs it into law. This is a step in the right direction.

Now that necked cartridges are lawful (min .35 - max .5) what will everyone be hunting with this year?

I'm fine, thanks for your concern! I'm not Nathan, as you know, but hopefully he is OK as well. Would this not lead the logical and unbiased observer to the conclusion that the problem is with the style of hunting, then, and not caliber of the weapon? Or perhaps the problem is both with the...

Yes, I bow hunt as well. I enjoy bow hunting more than rifle hunting. I run a Bowtech that is getting a little long in the tooth but still does the trick.

Now that necked cartridges are lawful (min .35 - max .5) what will everyone be hunting with this year?

I don’t understand … is the removal of arbitrary caliber restrictions an imminent threat to all things deer hunting in Iowa? Or is it a deeply unpopular change that very few hunters want? I am having a hard time reconciling these two positions… since, by definition, if very few hunters are...

Now that necked cartridges are lawful (min .35 - max .5) what will everyone be hunting with this year?

What happens when another hundred thousand hunters join our ranks over the next few decades? What happens to Hunter opportunity then? You’re counting on method of take to achieve a balanced herd in both quality and quantity instead of just doing it directly with tag management. I have no...

You can have the quality deer herd without arbitrary caliber restrictions. That’s what we all want!
