    2022 buck

I shot a buck on the farm Hardwood 11 owns now about 8 years ago that look identical to that buck. Guessing it could be some of his offspring. Bladed brows and tines especially on his right side.

    Dried Venison (Deer)

I agree with Ishi on using the backstraps for the best dried. Next best cut would be eye of round. I use the same proportions of brown and tender quick.

    Alaska trip

We ran shrimp pots a few days out of Whittier and wasn’t a banner year, but we had some to bring home. I have relation that live in Girdwood and a cabin near Ninilchik, we always do the tractor launch at Deep Creek. Did you go with Crazy Ray? I have heard a lot of good things about his charters.

    Alaska trip

Did you fish out of Seward? I got back about a week ago from AK from my annual trip and we had good halibut fishing and the sockeye fishing was outstanding. The numbers in the Kenai were way up from last year.

Turkey harvest down from last year

Turkey numbers are way down in Woodbury and Monona Counties from last year. Not sure why and DNR has no answer other than, possibly too many predators. Had a particular farm that was my favorite and hunted it this year a few times, never heard a tom or saw a single turkey there, nor did others...

    Scouting

It got me today as well and as long as I have owned one, I should know better.

    Decoy bag for multiple decoys

I use a mesh bag that has backstrap staps very similar to what waterfolwers use. Works well with 3 decoys, plus an extra layer of clothing for the cool mornings.

SSB 1221 Another Public land Bill

I dropped them for the same reason after having FB for several years.

    Coyote problem

That is just a good start and not the first one laying dead in that area north of the dam.

    Alaska trip planned

First of all what time of the year are you planning to be there? I have gone there almost every year since 1989, although I have relation there and fish with family on the Kenai River and Cook Inlet for halibut and salmon. A couple of charters that are very reputable are Driftwood Charters out...

Gun Pushing Deer Hunters VS Stand, management & bowhunters....

I haven’t hunted shotgun season since 1987 and when we did hunt then, we sat in our bowstands. We shot some really nice bucks using that method and actually did better than the orange army. The main reason I stopped was because of safety and the fear of being shot. It becomes quite scarey with...

    Finally got my first pheasant

Fun times! My lab got her foot sewn up today and will be out of commission for 3 weeks. We have been shooting birds on a regular basis in NW IA.
