    Trapping update

We sell to a buyer from Fredricksburg; has bought from us and my dad's friend (that we share the trapping shed with) for a couple years now. He comes to my dad's place to do the grading and buying. Between ours and the friend's fur, there's annually about 400 coon, 20 fox, and all the other...

    Hunting Discovery Thoughts

Curious what others thoughts are around the recent discovery (by hunters) of what is believed to be the two girls from Evansdale. Regardless of if it was the girls, I personally would be pretty shaken stumbling upon any human remains or body while in the woods. I don't think it would deter me...

    Trapping update

Nice job - coyotes are always neat to catch, although my dad and I rarely catch them. We focus on catching coon every year by snaring and our typical catch - running over about 2-1/2 weeks of trapping - is ~200. We had 197 coon this year, with 10 fox, 3 badger, and a big flattail to boot...

    Numbers

x2...Madison County near Pammel Park, numbers are way down from past years. Still saw good action, but hardly any does around. Sad....too bad any mid-season adjustments of tags couldn't have been/be done. I filled out my bowhunter survey and sent it in - hope it helps for setting future year...

    Rut? No Rut?

Went out this weekend near Winterset, saw 2 mature bucks - 150 at first light on Sunday, lightly chasing a doe around a hay field. The other was Sunday evening about 5:00. Shooter 8 lightly sparring with a decent 10. Tried some calling (grunt & light rattling) but they had no interest...

    Anyone else do this???????

I think it would be cool to be able to have the facilities and means to film my own hunt, but mostly so that I could re-live it over and over - not to make money on it. I do enjoy watching videos of people's hunts, but it does take away from the "sport" of hunting when you start commercializing...

    11-19-11 Buck 15 pt w/ Split Drop

Got this buck this past Saturday AM. Lots of deer movement early on and the bucks were responding well to rattling. Called in a forky and then a narrow but tall 10 pt that would have gone 130s. Finally, after my third rattling sequence of the morning, I had does all around and then this guy...
