I fell... wear your harness

Muddy, thanks for posting this. I stopped wearing a harness a few years ago because I don't like the dang thing. I woke up last night in a cold sweat, thinking about this. Guess who's wearing their harness this AM. This guy. 25 feet up, and happy.

As I get older, I start to think I need to ground hunt. I’ve beat the odds so far and they might come back to haunt me.

I’m well insured though, somebody might get rich.

I am with you as well. I've thought a lot about that after turning 50. I have gone to 100% lifelines and that helps a bunch I think. I have a bad knee so I worry more about gutting myself on a stick type climbing ladder so I am considering going to a ladder style stick.

Glad to hear your OK Muddy...I just love being up in a tree so I am going to do everything I can to keep using a portable stand up there...

Glad to hear your ok Muddy. I have 2 lone wolfs I use and a few years ago I started to use ratchet straps along with the 2 straps that came with the stands. My stands are more solid and more secure. I also use the safety harness and line mans belt. My next birthday I will be 60 and I want to be still doing what I love when I'm 70. Thanks for posting and bringing this to everyones attention.

Muddy, I forgot to mention earlier, but make sure you throw away your harness and rope that you fell in. Those fall stresses are unreal and the integrity of that stuff is now compromised. I'm sure you did already but just in case.

Call me a scaredy-cat but I have the chain that comes with my stands and 3 ratchet straps. Two at the top and one at the bottom. I also ratchet my climbing sticks. And of course, there’s my lifeline.

I wasn’t always this way but a friend bounced and he’s now paralyzed from the chest down.

Very glad you’re ok. Hope people read and head your advice.
