5 Bucks in 5 years with a combined gross score of 970"

Really. It’s called access to thousands of acres of property. Whether through money or profession. Finding a 200 inch deer and having the access to kill it. I have awesome land in Iowa and have seen one 200 in deer in 20 years. If you break this down it’s laughable. Good for him but it has variables 99% of the hunting population will never have. I guarantee.

I read through briefly the article. Are you thinking because he's a realtor he has access on the farms he lists or?

Absolutely. Look at the a whitetail properties crew. 99.9 percent of hunters will never put eyes on a 200 inch deer in a lifetime. Im sure he’s special. Lol

so what
They appear to be free range deer and if so that's an incredible accomplishment!
I have well over 1000 acres of prime private ground (most) of it to myself and can't kill a big buck every year.

I'm sure he has access to a lot of ground to get those opportunities, but I doubt that all just fell in his lap. Hard work tends to pay dividends. Even having access to a 200 inch deer every year is far from a guarantee to kill him. I would guess that anyone consistently killing deer like that free range is in the top 5% of hunters in effort or skill and likely both.

Here is the real story. This kid has killed all of his deer on family land. (Under 1000 acres). He is 23 years old and has been hunting with his dad and grandpa since he could tag along. He just started to be a land agent for the real estate company this fall. He doesn’t have unlimited ground to hunt like you suggest. He’s from western Kansas where less than 1/3 of the population of the whole state live. Wide open spaces, with 2% timber at most.

Why is it that some hunters can’t ever be happy for other people? I guess it’s easy to think like a Democrat and feel like just because someone is successful they must be doing something wrong or have taken a shortcut and therefore they should be torn down or their accomplishments diminished.

This kid went to college to be a medical researcher but because he has the love he does for the outdoors he went into ag real estate that way he could stay close to home. It’s a good article about a genuine young man who is having the success everyone dreams of.

Don’t care. Outside the norm is all I’m sayin. Lee Lakosky and the Drurys have done the same. We don’t care cause we know their situation. This is similar, I guarantee. That’s all

Agreed, this is an outlier for sure, that I either don't have the means or desire to accomplish, personally. The #'s alone are impressive though. Nearly 1k inches of antler in 5 years, from 5 deer. The kicker is that he's now only 23 years old. That means he shot his first world class buck when he was 17 or 18, and has repeated it 4 more years in a row. That's pretty darn impressive to me, and I speak out frequently about 'farming deer'. I was so busy chasing a different kind of tail in my late teens and early 20's, that you couldn't have paid me to put the time into locating and hunting any of these beasts.

Props to the kid. In western KS - I’m gonna guess most guys actually do have access to thousands of acres. There’s no one out there & it’s not nearly as hard to get permission.

I know guys with huge farms that control everything & still have a hard time killing giants even on rare occasions.

My best guess…. Dude has a niche & talent & works his Butt off to get the opportunities he does. Could drop a pile of guys into that same area & they won’t have those results. That’s my guess as I’ve seen this over & over. Great ground is far from a guarantee. There’s a lot of guys out there who are in great hunting situations that don’t have results anything like that. I know guys in middle of Canada with same situations….. gazillion acres & options but only a few consistently capitalize on it. Whatever the case- Congrats to the young man!
