2021 TeenageHunter's Adventure Log

Ended up accepting a position with Alaska Game and Fish and will be working in a remote lake called Hugh Smith Lake "near" Ketchikan, AK. I won't be posting for a few months, but, I'll be back in September with some awesome elk and bear content. Crossing my fingers I draw my Deer tag in Wyoming and still have applications in Utah and Oregon for Bighorn, Moose, Mountain Goat, Elk, and Deer.

Thank you Skip for the great recommendation :) Helped out a bunch!

While I have some spare time I figured I'd make a quick post about everything that's gone down in the last couple months. I spent a couple months in Alaska and even had the opportunity to hunt deer for two days. I hiked up in the Alpine on Gravina Island near Ketchikan, Alaska. I saw a couple Black Bear, but, there weren't any Deer!

Black Bear at the weir, this bear would come by daily.

Native American Art about 15+/- miles from camp via boat.

Slate Islands, it took us about an hour to get here via a 16' skiff with 15HP Yamaha. I drove this little sucker pretty far out into the ocean a couple times.

Dead Mountain Goat I found at the edge of the lake that had fallen in. Assumed cause of death was malnutrition or similar, non-predatory.

Our "front yard" view, it was still 70' vertical to the cabin.

I have lots more pictures from the adventure in Alaska, just don't have time to upload them all. Hope you enjoy these!

I'm now sponsored by Savage Arms too! I'll be hunting with their guns from here on out.

I'm now officially a business owner! I started my own outfitting business here in Southwest Iowa and plan to have 15 clients for 2022-2023 deer season and 10 for turkey season! It's going to be an amazing adventure and I can't wait to start guiding hunters next year here in Iowa for trophy whitetail.

Love my Savage ML10II's, no longer offered.

Mixed emotions on the dark side Iowa outfitter move, but wish you well.

I know, I know, but, most of the ground I grew up hunting is starting to get leased out and I hated seeing others who had never even been in the area hunt it or lease it. At this point in my life I would rather help others who have never had the opportunity to hunt big bucks and be successful than myself. I've killed a lot of big bucks in my life and have enjoyed it, but, I'm over hunting whitetail for myself and would rather guide/outfit on lands I've learned how to hunt in the last 12+ years. I enjoy helping others and making their dreams come true!

Lots of crap outfitters out there, I think you will do it right.

Red Oak, Essex, Shenandoah, Coin, Sidney, and Thurman right now. I’m planning on leasing more stuff out in the future, but, working with what I have right now. I’m low quantity of hunters with high success at 140”+ or better and want to keep it that way.

It’s been a busy last couple weeks, headed to Alaska now.

A couple of my client's deer from here in Iowa. One more client for the 2021-2022 season and then I'll be headed to Illinois to dart deer and start all over again. No big plans for 2022 unless I draw some quality tags (I'll need a lot of luck).
