I started in VB. Maybe 7-10 years hunting there. Lots of deer. I recall some large parcels that I’m certain if a guy got back far enough- could get on mature deer. Hunted a tract bordering secluded public & wasnt much pressure & was mature bucks. Good luck on the pursuit & I’m sure more folks have more experience down there.

What part of Van Buren did you like the best?
The one with neighbors that didn’t blow everything away they saw. ;). It’s all pockets. Like any county. U can find a farm that’s amazing…. Managed well & ample mature bucks…. Go 2 miles away & u can be on ground that’s piss pounded & sucks. All comes down to neighborhood.
With that said - the hardest ground to “piss pound” is large sections of big timber or thickets. Small draws & cover you can push deer out of easy- those are areas that can get pounded the easiest.
So- all things equal - without knowing management - IMO- go for big sections with giant timber.
