I picked up a couple cherry trees to plant. Can I tube them, or should i just run cages around them like I do apple trees? Wasn't sure how they would do in tubes like my chestnuts/oaks/walnuts.
Cherry is a bit fussy. I’ve never tubed them. I’d probably cage. Watch super close on insect pressure. Check often. They can kill trees. Might do lil research on growing cherry trees in Iowa. Very doable but just a little more challenging.

Thing to watch for is a leaf disease. I have a 9 ft sweet tree. It got this disease end of last Summer. Bout all the leaves fell off. I have 2 tart trees and they got it too. Just not as bad. Forget the name of. The disease but it is common. I bought fertlome spray for it. Gona try it when buds break.
