Be here Now
I was able to get my first turkey reaped with a bow last week, and while in street clothes when I wasn't expecting to really hunt. I went to the property to check a trail camera I had set out for security purposes as there had been some thefts at the farmers property, and I always have by bow in my back seat. I spotted some turkeys WAY off in the distance, grabbed my bow and a turkey fan meant to attach to a gun and proceeded to crawl many hundreds of yards directly at the turkeys. I also forgot my calls, so it was a silent stalk/ reap. I got to about 60 yards and a hen took off as if she was spooked, and as she did that two toms ran directly at me full sprint. So I stick the fan against a stump and drew back the bow, rolled him at about 15 yards. I had to go home and change as my work clothes and shoes were a bit muddy after that

Then TH and I road tripped out to Nebraska in chase of a RIO. First morning we spotted a group of turkeys, only issue was there was already two hunters after them. After a short time they both gave up and we proceeded to pursue them. I crawled behind my scoot and shoot for ever as they kept staying well ahead of me- and I finally was able to get within 25 yards- the entire group was hens and jakes- no mature toms. But one of the Jakes was a rio- and that was enough for me. I pulled up and dropped him in his tracks- all while TH and the other hunter was in the distance watching. It was a fun morning!
