Congrats on the buck.

Also, I loved the story, as it sounded familiar. A buddy shot a buck at the back of a piece of public down in SE IA back in the mid-80's. By the time we got it to the truck, the hair had been worn off one side.

I don't know if I will hunt that far back in there again.

The next year I hunted 75 yards from the parking lot, had the area to myself as everybody "went deep" and I shot a buck in the first two hours. :D

Nice work. I don't know if anybody is in good shape for dragging a whitetail that far, cart or not! Misery loves company though so at least you had buddies to join in on the fun!

It's too bad Iowa won't let you quarter an animal out on public. I know of some places on public that are really boggy that would be awesome to hunt. Only problem is I don't know how a person would get a buck out of there between the cattails and creek crossings.
