I love getting pics of healthy deer after Jan 10! Here’s a few - young or bit older that I’m glad made it. Post any up u want. 2 year old mega potential to ones a year or two away.
How’s everyone’s feelings about the survival % this year or how things look now that “MOST” the state is done for season?

Good deal. Guy who hunts in my blind shot an older buck, other than that they all walked. The old buck was definitely on his way down, but was the biggest he'd ever killed. Saw a lot of nice three to five year olds that are nice, time will tell next year.

Pretty pumped to see these two around after the 10th (buck 1 and buck 3), especially since there is a fence sitter on both the north now and south fence line, been one of the south for years, the north one is was new this past fall. This is my small permission piece, maybe just 10 acres max huntable. The 10 that I can hunt is a great thick bedding/cover area for the surrounding ag land with a few treed fence lines coming out of it.

Buck 1 is the one Im most excited about.

Better look at buck 1.

Buck 2. Solid 8, hoping he grows a bit this coming year, really like his white cape with dark forehead.

Buck 3. I know this pic is from the 6th, but the pics after the 10th are not that clear of him.

Buck #1 kinda looks like a buck my bro shot LONG AGO!!! When we were young punks. Your buck there has cooler forks & probably be lot bigger next year.

Three bucks that I'm thrilled have made it past January 10. I believe two were 4 year olds & one was a 3 yo this past fall based on previous year's pics - was very tough to not hunt these bucks this year! If I get the opportunity to hunt even one of these three over the next two falls I will consider myself lucky! IMG-7046.JPGIMG-7058.JPGIMG-7053.JPG

I had a lot of young bucks make it thru the season and a couple of 4–5-year-olds my neighbors and I passed till next season. One evening the first week of January I had 20 bucks come out into the food plot. Unfortunately, none scored over 130 inches. In Illinois almost all of the 2-4 year olds with good genetics get shot every season (mostly with a crossbow). It's very tough getting bucks to 5+ years old in Illinois now even in highly managed areas.

Neighbor and I both passed on him the last 2 years. Next year, tho…
