Took a 60 yard shot on the morning of November 5th at this guy and watched him walk away hurt which at the moment I thought fatal. After 2 days of blood trail, backing out, listening for yotes, trail cam three days later of him making a scrape etc... I assumed he’d survived but by pure chance my brother found him two weeks later on the way to his stand. Not something I’m proud of and this deer deserved better but it is what it is - I’ll do better next time

Passed him 2 years ago almost to the minute from the same tree stand

While all that other stuff was going on four of us went out to Montana for a mule deer hunt and I was fortunate enough to wrap my tag around this guy.

Congrats to those that have tagged out and good luck to those still trying - thanks to those who share

Nice bucks. He must not have died long before he was found or you don't have many coyotes around. Curious where you hit him for him to live that long.

What a frame. I think most of us have taken shots we regretted and learned from. Glad u got an end to it and that mule deer is one heck of a season topper!

Where was the hit and what ended up being fatal?

The buck was quartering away when I released but he took a step before the arrow got there. By the time the arrow made impact he was almost facing straight away. Arrow went in low belly next to his sac and came out at base of brisket. 2” higher and he wouldn’t of made it 50 yards or 1” lower and he would’ve just ended up with a scar.

When I opened him up he was full of infection. Typically if you leave a deer out overnight around here the coyotes have it cleaned by the next morning. They never touched this one. Still wasnt touched 5 days after recovering it.
