    Question about Fertilizer

Yes. Ur spot on. Rock, salt, inert material etc make up the rest. Here’s an old vid I did on values, etc. Also- I’d highly suggest u throw out (without soil test) … sulfur, zinc, copper, Boron, etc. U are very likely low on several of those. Boron & sulfur id almost lay $ on it.

    Dr James Kroll - EHD & CWD….

I personally don’t buy the cwd stuff. I see millions $$$$ go to testing- feds giving the states big $$$&. Where are the equal or greater funds for researching a cure??? Maybe im missing that info I can’t find data or know anyone that says the gov is spending millions on a cure. If we dig...

Great podcast to listen to! Steve Hansen on the Land Podcast

The other great point made…. Our deer population is HALF of what it was in 2005. I gotta admit- MOST the state needs more deer. A lot of areas need to lay off the killing. Is there some high density pockets? Sure. But overall- the #’s are clear- HALF. It’s no mystery with: 1) easier...

    Planting switch on a slope

Drill it in. If erosion is a concern - could run oats with it and keep it mowed. Lot of ways to do it. Drill it about 1/4” to 1/8th” deep

    Raccon bounty

I don’t think it past this round but I might be wrong. This one, IMHO, needs to come back & be approved. If fur prices rebound, maybe pause it? I am not a trapping expert or make $ trapping but in a very basic sense, coon populations are epidemic insane high & most can’t find anyone to...

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

Agree with Nrharris…. Plenty of time. Even ag corn… early may is just fine. U have 2 issues with later planted corn… the roll of the dice it gets dry weather when filling out & missing some of the early season rain. 2nd: it won’t dry down as much. So- u couldn’t combine as early - which is...

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

100%. No problem at all. Even if u wanted to run a second pass on non-gmo… u have infinite options…. 2,4-d, atrazine, mesotrione, prowl, metolachlor/acetolachlor, etc etc. Or the cocktails like acuron, etc. Plenty of post emergent killing ability too… Metolachlor kills grasses, atrazine...

    Trespass fines increasing ?

This was one that also flew through fairly easily. Not a lot of opposition. Likely a step in right direction. Not a lot of debate on either side from what I recall.

What to do on a rain day?

That’s awesome!! That’s a place I would love to be at in the fall!!!! Im with u on the blinds… love my tree stands…. Full experience!!! But…. Once late November hits or crumby weather…. I can tell I am getting soft with age. Nice comfy blinds are kinda nice. I like that the first couple...

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

Ya- bicyclopyrone is the key there. What makes Acuron unique. I didn’t get by with acuron in my wet areas. But- possibly nothing will…. Just needed tile. Acuron is great. & if it saves time & second pass - especially for plots- who cares about the cost. It is great stuff. If someone...

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

2 changes this year… 1) ran polymer coated urea. Slower releasing as I’ve seen some petering-out of N in July/August & I don’t like to side or top dress. 2) tried Surestart II herbicide. 3 groups of herbicides in that mix. can use it pre & post. Trying it 3 ways: 1) I burnt down with it +...

House File 2015 - Landowner Tag Changes

I do think this was the general sentiment of those who didn’t really like this change but kept their powder dry for other battles. Political capital and ammo are finite and very real. Offense & defense. We absolutely need to use all of it on the disasters…. I would say offensively, 2 steps...

    Dr James Kroll - EHD & CWD….

He always has great articles. It starts out for the everyday hunter (which we need as most hunters still don’t understand this stuff). Then- gets more detailed on the strains, when it was discovered, how it impacts things, etc. Impacts of EHD & CWD …. Worth the read. EHD IMO is the biggest...

House File 2015 - Landowner Tag Changes

It’ll make killing bucks easier vs harder. Some people like that. THAT is the trend & mindset WE HUNTERS have to consider…. Not “what’s best for me?” It has to change to “what’s best for the RESOURCE?” This is a shared resource (one that’s fragile & being degraded) It’s very much like...
