Not every buck in Iowa is 200+, but that doesn't mean you can't be happy with it.

This is my first deer with the muzzy, and a public land buck to boot. Funny thing is that after scouting all winter, running cameras all summer, and hanging stands a few weeks ago, this was the first time I'd been to this spot since last season. I ended up standing out there next to a tree as the sun came up on Sunday. No blind. No prep. Right place at the right time, you bet! But sometimes that's what it takes.

Congratulations!! You are exactly right about trophies. Everyone needs to remember that the trophy is for the individual. As long as the hunter is happy with what they have harvested, nothing else matters. Every whitetail is a trophy and it is a true accomplishment to be able to put one on the ground. Congratulations on a great deer!

x2........ to many people get wrapped up with size. If you think its a shooter then shot it!!!! Congrats!!!

Awesome! Congrats. Looking at an average sized buck in a harvest photo is much more enjoyable when the OP isn't apologizing for it. :way:

Couldn't agree more! Besides, if you really want to feel humbled about small whitetail, hunt a Coue's whitetail!
