Mature bucks piling in with cold spell

With this cold spell, I’m seeing several new mature bucks that I haven’t seen before. I don’t recall this being the case in past years. Habitat and food work may finally be paying off! Hope they stick around for next year. :)

That's what I'm talking about Chad! It's nice when you see your work pay off. Just let me know if you need help picking up all the sheds! ;)

Like IBH1983 said, you may get some of them to stay. The las few years this has happened on our place and the best have stuck around. The place has ample food opportunities and generally we killed the oldest on the place that same season so there was room for them to move into the area.

Great deer! What foods are they coming in for?

Combined corn (~100ac of the 400ac farm). 1 acre of standing/mowed corn. They are hitting the radishes/brassicas hard in our foodplots. And we put out 5 small alfalfa bales for them. That seems like much less waste than rolling a big round bale down the hill. Plus we have a ton of hedge mineral stumps on the property that they hammer all year long.

Love to hear what others are seeing as attracting new comers this time of year.

Great bunch of bucks. I have seen the same thing feeding this time of year, and I only own 20 acres of timber and pasture. EHD hammered my area in 2020 so nothing over 140’s so far this year.

And the big 8 from the first post left his headgear somewhere in the snow. Of course this pic is on the opposite side of the farm of the first pic. :)
