Moultrie External Power

I've been looking into adding external power to a Moultrie I40 and I came up with 3 questions.

Some places say to use 12V power supplies and some say 6V. Which is it?

When you run the external power, can the cam run on just the external power or does it need to have the D cells as well?

Has anyone had experience with the solar panels? How well do they work?

Here you go, it will plug right in the bottom of your I40 and will run it for months! That and it's about $20 cheaper here than anywhere else I have found! Go figure a stealth product that works on a Moultrie! I run it with d cells in it just to be safe, but it works without them.
