Well went out deer hunting sunday (11-20) morning. I woke up at 5 and debated on even going out because we didn't see anything worth shooting all week and wasn't motivated.. well i got up and we went way up north on some ground i picked up from a guy we did work for. He had 6 people opening day come from omaha and hunt then had a couple other people hunting the ground also.. So i figured they had everything spooked. Well was i wrong. Drove into some canyons they didn't even thing of going into. Saw 7 does when we first got in but that was it on a full section.. Well we were driving the thickets on the section and had one last pocket to check and it was thicker than thick. Could barley see down it because all of the brush. Well i spotted 3 dose about half way down the hill and told my dad to stop. One of the does hopped up and was just staring. And outta no where we saw a buck running down to the left by an evergreen tree down the canyon and over to other side and heading over the hill. All i could see was horns so i hopped out and picked him up in the scope about half way up the hill and let the 30-06 sing. Dropped this beast dead in his track. Nailed him right in the spine. He had 6 does pinned down. All in all it was a great weekend with the duck hunting, my dad getting his deer, then me getting my deer. Took him yesterday to get him mounted. Ill get him back sometime in October. He has over 40 deer to do... ALso we couldnt get the back window to roll down so thats how the deer rode town.. We got quite a few ppl staring...
