Where were you

In high school. A secretary came in and grabbed our economics teacher during class because his wife was a stewardist on the flight 93 plane that went down in PA...

my sophmore year in High school i was in welding class. tragic day. Thanks to all who helped search for the people that lost their lives and to all the soldiers that has fought for our country. We'll never be able to thank them enough. And for all you on here that are in the armed forces or that has been thanks for everything you do and have done. It's greatly appreciated by every american. People don't tell soldiers near enough how much that we appreciate them for risking their lifes so that we can get out in the outdoors and do all the things we love. Thanks to all in the armed forces.

Believe it or not I was out putting up a stand in MI. On my way home, on the truck radio, I heard the news. Once home I watched the unfolding on TV and saw the second plane hit. Never forget that day.

Re roofing my old first grade teachers roof. For some reason we didn't have the radio on that morning my work partner had to run to town when he got back he asked me what was going on in NY. I can remember turning on KGGO and that they turned the broadcast over to the national news new it was pretty serious then. Thank you to all that serve.

Sophmore year at college in Mason City. Was getting ready to head to class and saw it then got word classes were canceled. Was glued to the tv all day. Unbelievable. Definitely a shame...

I was on may way to pick up a buddy to hang stands when I heard it on a local morning show out of Omaha. I was skeptical to what I was hearing due to the unseriousness of this station but soon found it to be true.

Sitting in high school in Osage, IA...in the Ag room, sitting on the table watching it on TV...thats where the entire day was spent basically...

I was knee deep in a stream in south of Columbus Junction. For lunch we went to CJ to eat and watched the the 2nd building come down on the spanish channel.

Senior year in physics class. The teacher immediatly turned the tv on and we all watched as the 2 plane it and buildings went up in smoke.

Was on top of a mountain mule deer hunting in WY. Didn't know it happened for a couple days. Sister got stuck in Vegas on her way home from her Hawaiin honeymoon and my ma was trying to talk my dad and I into driving out there to pick her up....

My Great Grandpa had passed away at the age of 99 that night previous to the attacks. Im kinda glad he did at that time so he didn't have to see it. It was my senior year of highschool and I was driving to school when I heard about the first one on the radio and by the time I got into class, the second one had hit. All we did all day was watch the news coverage in every class. After school we were at football practice and a plane escorted by fighter jets flew over us... Turns out I guess it was AF1 considering all public flights had been canceled, so that was pretty cool. I remember driving by the gas stations in town and there were lines of cars probably 100 yds long waiting to fill up because there was a big rumor that gas was going to jump to 4 or 5 dollars per gallon.

I was driving to school my senior year when I heard about the first plane hitting the building. They thought it was an accident at first so when we got to school a few teachers had the tv on and we all watched the second plane hit. I was actually sitting in Ed thomas's room all day watching what was going on. a lot of schools were letting out early and parents had the option to pick their kids up from school. Ed being the guy he was made it very clear to us football players that we werent going anywhere and that we still had practice. We all complained at the time but we ended up winning the championship that year and gave coach thomas his last championship win.

Working on our Combine getting ready for harvest and had the radio on in the background. Both me and my dad paused and looked at each other and asked "did they say what I thought they said?" Went into the house and turned on the TV just in time to see the first tower go down. Looked at dad and said "I don't want to work on the combine any more today" and he agreed. Watched TV most the day and remember seeing a big jet escorted by fighters fly over, even though all planes were grounded (most likely it was the President) Still brings a tear to my eye just sitting here typing this. We must never forget.

U was at home I remember waking up turning on the tv I saw the second plane hit. I give thanks to all heroes that help. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I was a junior in College at ISU... I lived in an apartment with three close friends. We had spent the night before over indulging in beer during the Broncos and Giants Monday Night football game.

Slightly hungover and typically late for class, I decided to pop on the TV to see what the weather was supposed to be for the day. I saw the first tower smoking and just thought it was a fire, but then the ABC broadcast started talking about how a plane had flown into it. I just figured it was an accident until I literally watched the 2nd jet fly into the 2nd tower. I stood there in shock for a moment and then quickly awoke my roommates to tell them WWIII was starting. We thought we were going to be living some kind of Red-Dawn movie...

I spent the rest of the day glued to the TV...I remember watching the pandemonium that played out over the hours and days after the attacks...with food, water and gasoline supplies.

Watching the 2nd plane hit was immediately burnt into my memory for life. I will never forget the feelings it created.

I was asleep after an overnight shift. My wife woke me just in time to see the second plane hit. I started getting my work stuff ready figuring the panic that followed would have them calling me in early. We watched until eary afternoon when I had to go in to work. That day / night at work people were calling in about everything thinking that it was a terrorist attack. Heck, we even had someone call in that a hot air balloon was spreading toxic powder from the air. Seriously.

9/11 ranks right up there with Reagan getting shot and the Space Shuttle exploding as far as remembering exactly what you were doing on that day. It just seems to ingrain in your memory. I just dated myself to those that were in high school when 9/11 happened!

I had just pulled in on a job site to start a bath remodel. One of my co-workers said that a plane just hit one of the towers and the homeowner had it on their big screen next to the bathroom I was working in. We stood there in total shock watching the buildings burn and come down. Will never forget watching the second plane hitting. Still get a massive pit in my stomach thinking about it. Was in Logan airport on that same flight just a week earlier and I remember thinking what a joke the security was. That is something that will be burned in to my head forever.
