The big bean field where I have been seeing bucks suddenly went dry a few days ago. Yesterday I spooked a couple bucks out of a fenceline and they were clean. The fun is getting closer. Long range forecst calls for a major cold front Sept. 10-11, with a frost scare possible. El Nino situation also calls for a 2to1 chance of a early, cool, wet fall followed by an easy winter. Very unreliable forecasts to be sure but it's fun to dream of sitting a stand during a Halloween snow.

I noticed that on the cams as well, then saw deer hitting white oak acorns and early apple varieties. I think they were tired of the beans and "fresh" food sources are coming on. Season will be upon us soon! :way:

I want snow BEFORE Holloween! :D

I'm with ya there. I remember when I was young it snowed every halloween for like 4 years. Piles of snow too. Really that wasn't that long ago maybe 10-15years ago. The weather has definately changed.

91 or 92 we had a big snow on Halloween. My kids were little and I remember the jack o' lanterns covered up. I wasn't bowhunting then but I believe the snow stayed thru shotgun season. Anybody else remember that year? What was bowhunting the rut like in the snow?

I remember 91 well. Some friends and I were camped at Yellow River and we had some snow on October 10th. We were kids, unprepared for cold that early...... froze our :moon: off that weekend.:drink1:

Bring on the cold weather! I don't think I've ever looked forward to a Fall as much as this year.
