Late Friday morning found me spending some time with my son as we sat waiting for the Union Pacific's #844 steam locomotive to come by. My sons work hours prevent us from getting together as much as we used to but we enjoyed drinking coffee and sharing stories while we waited.
About 5 minutes behind schedule, we heard the unmistakable sound of that steam whistle as she steamed into view. It was fun watching what has become known as the "Living Legend" roll past us on it's way east, then on to Kansas City and other southern destinations.
As a side note, to give an idea of how big this thing is, the driver wheels are 80 inches in diameter!!!
