My vacation starts tomorrow. Timing should be good for S.E. Iowa and I'm pretty pumped. I'm always checking this forum for movement updates, trail cam photos and successful harvest photos. I really enjoy a lot of the posts. I have been lucky enough to harvest my fair share of big bucks in the past and I have posted a few of them on this site. But this year I don't know.... There is a lot of negativity in the air around here. It's pretty sad to see all the questions surrounding legality. Some people must have nothing better to do than pick apart someone's good fortune. Is it jealousy? Why can't someone just simply congratulate a fellow hunter and show a little mutual respect? I'd like to wish good luck to all my fellow hunters this season and stay safe out there! It's our favorite time of year let's all enjoy it!

I wouldn't, world is filled with way too much jealousy anymore. Also way to many people who think they are deer experts and pick apart everything. Saw it today already guy shot a big buck and a beaver and someone saying beaver wasn't legal. Who cares beavers should have a bounty like coyotes they destroy trees and fields and flood everything.

I don't anymore because The majority of guys on here look for an argument and know everything about everything!! I don't have to prove myself to anyone!! I love the if you don't show a pic it didn't happen, really are we in 5th grade.....

Which is exactly why I was trying to shoot one when I got my educational lesson. I was the one who brought that up, but only because I had been informed that shooting them was illegal. I never looked up legal method of take because the CO told me they could not be shot. I took his word for it, but apparently he was wrong and so was I. I also congratulated the hunter on his stud of a buck.
I didn't go on and on about the legality of the beaver. I made one post, realized I was misinformed and didn't drag the thread off topic again.

FYI - I'm not calling anyone out here. Not my thing. Just sharing my general observation as of late. Actually the last year or so.

I think it really depends on what you can take? If you can weed through the negative few and except the congrats from 90 percent of the people you will be fine. Who cares what some dip shit says about it? Does it really bother you that much? I enjoy looking at everyone's success, and if I'm fortunate enough to harvest a big one I will post it without hesitation. If somebody disapproves or try's saying I did something wrong who cares? Go on to the next comment from the 90 percent of people who know how much time and effort it took you to harvest the trophy. Ultimately the decision is up to you. Good luck.

I agree. Don't let a small percentage of people ruin the experience of seeing a good harvest photo. I really enjoy this site and a lot of the people that post here. There's a lot of big bucks that get taken by people on here. So, ofcourse, there are going to be some skeptics and people who are just plain jealous. With how much marketing and fame involved in the sport now days... do you really expect anything less?

I will say in defense of the skeptics that it is not wrong to question the legality of a harvest. But if you do it for the sole reason just because you are jealous, something is wrong.

Well stated - I agree. Most of the folks on this site are genuinely good people, don't worry about the few who make comments to get a rise out of others. Share your experiences and enjoy the positive comments from the majority of the IW members.

This site is my favorite out there, and even though it's probably true that it is now something less than it once was, it's still the best available for guys and gals who enjoy the outdoors and want to share stories, ideas, etc.

So here's my take. I believe that the reason this site is a favorite of many, including me, is because members have been willing to share their stories and pics and others respond in a positive and encouraging way. So yeah, whenever someone in my family is fortunate enough to harvest a deer, we usually post it. Ours have never been the biggest out there, and likely never will be, but the stories are ones that I think many members can relate to, so I put them up. I agree that there may be a small percentage of replies that are negative, but it is truly small on this site in comparison to others out there. So keep it up Iowawhitetail members...this is by far the best thing going out there for those of us who enjoy this sport but are not into the internet drama of so many other sites :way:

Well said! I will post my pics and stories. I enjoy looking at and reading everyone else's why wouldn't I share mine? There is some negativity but its small. REALLY small in comparison to some other sites as already stated. The fantastic stories and pictures are what make this site so good, if everybody stops posting because they are scared someone might say something that isn't 100% positive this site will go downhill pretty quick.

I would absolutely post my harvest picture on here and I would hope others would do the same. I am a fan of the sport of hunting and there is nothing better than seeing a bunch of great harvest photos as well as a story to go along. There are always going to be a few naysayers but you just have to ignore them. It's pretty sad to read some of those post...but I wouldn't let them ruin it for all the good folks out there just looking to share the thrill of hunting whitetails.

I always post mine on here, as I really don't have anything to hide after my buck its dead. I have made a lot of really good friends on this site, wish some of them were still on here to post.

Paranoia gets to too many people, but I get it.

Post away man! :) I may not post much on harvest photos, but everyone should know that I view most if not all of them and appreciate every single one!:)

I might add, a story or short description makes the picture soo much sweeter!

I will admit, I almost didn't post my bow buck on 11/1 for fear of antler snobs on a deer id normally pass on, given ideal day light. But i figured, to hell with any bashers... im a hunter, and tho he wasnt my biggest, i harvested him.. im proud of him.. and Yes, I strive for big bucks.. and have 5 heads to show for it. I just decided that I don't care what others think. And I encourage you to do the same.

I posted a couple I got last year and will again if I get a nice deer or have a good story. I just do my best to ignore the negativity.

Ona similar note, i come close to quitting the site every year when so many people go off on party hunting. I hunt with a smart, ethical, small group and enjoy it but many on here judge others. I will do my best to ignor it again this year and continue to enjoy, and try to contribute to, the good threads.
