Scammers, Spammers and Thieves

I am so sick and tired of Scammers, Spammers and Thieves.
They must think we are all idiots.
Look at all the posts that show up here almost every day, do they really get that many people to click and send them money?
I average close to 10 spam/scam phone calls every day and having a business I don't have the luxury of only answering one where i know who it is that shows up on caller ID. Even that doesnt work because they are faking the caller ID somehow - I even got a spam call from myself one day according to the caller ID.
Not to mention how my email inbox and spam filter fills up so quickly.
Plus every forum I am on is constantly complaining about scammers and thieves - just list an item with some value on Facebook Marketplace and within minutes scammers will start messaging you.
Totally ridiculous yet hopelessly frustrating.
If you take just one persons wasted time and multiply it by the billions of people in the US alone - look at all the lost productivity our country is facing.
Thoughts, ideas or good solutions I haven't tried ? How hard would it be to track some of these people down ?

Most phone calls at work are spam and are spoofed from someone else's number.

Got my cell phone set so that if you aren't in my contact list, the call is silenced.

Recent scam email at work was about giving away a baby grand piano. Wanted you to help pay shipping from Atlanta, yeah, check is in the mail.

I wired $2000 to Nigeria and then found out the Prince was not real . Live and learn !!!
Obviously was kidding … but my friends mom lost $3000 to the Grandma scam . They pose as a grand kid in serious trouble, need cash fast and don’t want to tell the parents —and need money sent to …..

The elderly are hard of hearing . Some seem to fall for it ? Not sure how ?

I know of 2 sites/forums that require people to get verified before they post. I'm sure it's a PITA for the owners and maybe deters some actual posters, but it's just part of creating a username/account. Simple why you enjoy hunting/little about yourself to tell if you're a bot or a Nigerian prince

After i posted the original thread i had a scammer posing that they wanted to buy an E_Bike i had posted on Facebook Marketplace. Wanted my cell phone number so i could return a code they sent me to "Prove my identity" Thats a big fat NO!

Think what we doing is this….. ask a few very basic hunting questions when u sign up. Like dumb dumb level any hunter will know but the Nigerians won’t. As much as I enjoy horse-strength Viagra- think it’ll be eliminated pretty soon here.

Work is tightening its internet because of all the scam/spam/bots/threats. Locked down so tight that I can't access my gmail account.

Searched Henry Rifles and the website won't load due to browser restrictions. Evil guns. :(

When I have time I love to mess with the scammers. I like to tell them that I have an old high school buddy in FBI in the Identity Theft Taskforce and that we have been tracing their call and to expect a nock on the door sometime soon with a warrant. They hang up in a hurry

I have heard of that scam and although my grandparents are all deceased...I could really see such a thing working on my one grandmother. Ugh.

I sell Insurance for a living. When telemarketers call and ask me to buy something, I tell them that if they buy insurance from me, I’d do the same .

They seem to get off the phone fast !

Yep, big pain in the ass! I don't answer any calls that I don't recognize period. My wife sometimes wants to answer a call we don't know, I tell her if it's important they will leave a message, The national do-not-call list seems to do little to prevent telemarketers! I must have blocked several hundred callers the past year, scumbags! A friend of my wife happened to walk in on her mother on a phone call recently and her mother asked her to get her checkbook. She said what for and who are you talking to, she grabbed the phone and laid into them or her mom would have been out 3k.

Guy at work that is out about $180k to a spammer. They got into his head and he kept sending them $$$. Was told he won a lottery, was gonna be a millionaire... blah blah blah. He wouldn't listen to anyone that told him not to do it or to stop doing it, but he kept sending them money. Even took some loans out against his 401k... Finally couple weeks ago the check they gave him wasn't any good and I think he might finally understand he got f'd over. Pretty sad to see, but it's hard to help someone who won't take it.

This is a blast literally!!!!

I have this air whistle that I dug around and found a few months ago. When a spammer calls I follow what is needed to get to a live body and speak softly then I BLAST them
Talk about an instant hang up busting one ear drum at a time!
It could be a coincidence but I seem to get less calls now…..

Ishi I love it!!!

I do all kinds of things, including talking at 140 decibels that is fun.

When i answer on my work phone they ask if Mr Mike Hock is there as that is the name they have on file . I have literally kept them on the phone for 45+ minutes at work while doing other stuff.

My favorite is when the ask if I qualify for Medicare….43 years old, of course!!!

Air horn is on my list to buy

This is great off season hunting!
No special skills required….. just requires patience till you get a call then BLAST them!
