$950 standard shoulder, $1100 pedestal.
Wow! Thats an extreme spread between standard and "show" quality!!Last I paid for my deer and antelope was $750 for each... havent mounted anything since, just boil the skulls now.
Had a local taxidermist to one of my work areas was offering "show quality" mounts for $1500, and then a "standard" mount for $500. His standard mounts looked like the ones that you saw on a bad taxidermy thread. His show quality wasnt much better though...
My taxidermist I use told me- "I want all of my mounts to look like they are real and can walk out of your wall"- I agree and never batted an eye at the price- just have 2 little girls and hope to spend money on their hunting trophies before I do any of mine anymore.
Those euros look good! I need to start coming to you!

It's the turkey boiler that's the problem. LolYou can do it.
It's very easy. Takes a sharp knife, turkey boiler, pressure washer, and a couple celebratory beers
Usually boil and powerwash twice btw.
My preferred method. Aquarium heater speeds it up. Trash can.... forget about it for a few weeks. Clean as a whistle. Decrease. Whiten. Done.Emaciation is another pretty slick way to do euros. Takes more time and stinks to high heaven but they are tighter than boiling IMO and keeps the nasal bones better.
I did several skull mounts with some of my last few "mature terds" and really like the look of them. I almost considered doing last years buck as just a euro.Space, already have 17 or so. I like them and all but part of me kinda questions the point of it. Be an old man with 75 deer mounts for my kids to throw away? It's a conundrum.
I boil mine then scrape as much junk off then soak in water with dawn dish soap, then rinse and use a garden hose to blast remaining junk out. After that I soak the skull in 12% peroxide then rinse and dry in direct sunlight. I usually have to stain if the peroxide gets through the electrical tape I wrap around the base. I lightly wipe a small amount of walnut stain and wipe with a clean rag until I get the right hue from the stain. The turns out great.Do you guys have to recolor the bases? We've hired a couple euros done and the beautiful brown bases were stained and painted.
