I would and appreciate that. What are your thoughts about dropping an acorn in the furrow of tree planter?I'll be back at the farm this weekend and can grab some acorns to send ya if you're willing to go that route.
Not gonna be great. Need to do a lot!!!!! Rather grow em & plant or protect seed in tube right outta the gateI would and appreciate that. What are your thoughts about dropping an acorn in the furrow of tree planter?
I have tried this in the past and never had success. Save yourself the trouble imo.I would and appreciate that. What are your thoughts about dropping an acorn in the furrow of tree planter?
I am familiar with tree tubes... This pic is about 3 acres of the 25 we did this spring.I have tried this in the past and never had success. Save yourself the trouble imo.
Now I pot everything and then transfer to the field. Planted 400 this spring and only had 2 not make it.
I will add this, use a grow tube. I had some oaks put on 3' this year (no joke). I will never plant an oak without a grow tube again. Worth the $5 per, with a success rate like that.
I’d love to have some and would gladly send you a check to cover time and expenses, if you’d consider that. I had a couple growing about 15 years ago and they were mowed down. I’m at my farm in southeast Iowa this weekend and enjoying myself. Thank you!I'll be back at the farm this weekend and can grab some acorns to send ya if you're willing to go that route.
I've considered doing this exact thing. Please follow up on this. A worry for me is the weed pressure that's going to come after I disk. Will the trees be able to survive under 8' ditch weed and a matt of Canadian thistle or do I need to find a way to control that?We collected thousands of acorns and tossed them on 3-4 sprayed acres, tilled them in, and then packed. I am not sure how well it will work.
This weekend we are going around with a bulb drill bit and a cordless drill and dropping in even more. I figure if 1 in 20 makes it ill have a ton of trees.
Will see....

I sprayed it 3 times prior to tilling so I am hoping that isn't a huge problem. I also seeded the entire area to white Dutch clover to try to help suppress weeds.I've considered doing this exact thing. Please follow up on this.
