Memory as a kid involving a hunting kill?
I can remember mine. Guessing 5/6 years old.
Vagley remember the why/ hows but.. my uncle n i, we were driving down a gravel road and I spotted a Fox Squirrel in a telephone pole, I told him, he backed up and shot it (think with a .22lr).
I was TOTALLY excited untill we retrieved it and remember sitting of the back seat of the car holding that Squirrel.
I vividly remember petting it fur, touching its eyes. I felt super elated but sad at the same time.
First deer kill experience was, maybe about that same year?
Dad, his friend Jake and I were cruising around (don't remember where.
We seen a deer run into a Grove of trees. Dad told me to walk that Grove while he n Jake went and sat on the other end.
Don't recall much other then, while walking, I had to jump over a big downed tree. Half way over the log, I seen this (1000lb) buck laying in it bed staring at me at like 10'!.
It was real cold and I can remember being petrified seeing his breath cloud. I was froze in fear!
He jumped up n took off running full bore.
I took off running full bore in the direction I though Dad was.
Didn't know it at the time but I ran through the nastiest patch of Burrdock God ever created.
When I got to where Dad was, I was totally spent!. I could barely move as my clothing was glued together by Burrdock.
My head/ hair was a total mess from them. Like 100% covered.
Mom chewed Dad's ass when we got home and she rubbed peanut butter in my hair to comb my hair to get the burrs out. I remember telling Dad, " I Would Never Go Hunting Again".
Lol.
What kind of stories do you fellas remember ?
