Just wanted to pass crp sign up information to everyone.

Continuous sign up will open on February 12, 2026. The first batching period will end March 20th.

Genetral sign up will begin March 9th and end April 17th.

Contact your local FSA office for more information.

Is there any hope for a guy like me?

The current farm bill leaves me 1 year short of qualifying to enroll. If you roll the criteria forward to current years I easily qualify. Am I literally stuck until a new farm bill comes along?

I assume you are talking cropping history years?

Yeah, I’m curious what the rates will be we have a big farm coming out, but we want to try to re-enroll some of the steep stuff and the buffer strips along the river. It’s all in that SAFE (gaining ground) program now. Is there anything better out there? It was enrolled when we bought it.

It's been so frustrating. My cropping history is one year short of the requirement but now has 8 consecutive years of being cropped that fall outside of the "window" they look at. So unbelievable how worthless all our politicians are. Very thankful I'm not a farmer dealing with these constraints for my well-being.
I'm in the same boat on about 12 ac. Should never have been turned into ag field by the previous owner, way too sloped. I've called FSA on every signup the last two years and gotten the same response- nothing we can do until an updated Farm Bill. It's a constant reminder how useless our legislature is at the federal level (and Des Moines isn't much better!)

They need to re-work the wording or something on the next farm bill so it's not certain "actual" years but X amount of consecutive years before something becomes eligible.

I purchased an ajoining 26 acres tillable to my 95 timber/CRP piece last spring (closed 4/18). The neighbor was going to sell off large lots for houses. I rented it to the previous owner for 2025 because you have to own a piece for 1 year prior to putting it back into CRP. This year, I still fell short of 1 year (by 1 month) if I wanted to get it signed up! The FSA office mentioned that I could get the previous owner to sign it back in (as it has been in CRP before) and then sign the contracts back over to me after 4/18. That's the plan.

I was just informed the rates for Decatur Co will be around $159, depending on the program. The contract I want to re-enroll is currently at 209. Ouch.

Gotten lots of calls and texts in last 2 days about low rates from folks faced with reenrollment.

Dynamics arnt great. CRP will be losing acres. And commodity prices dont need more production acres online.

Need a new farm bill that makes CRP competitive. Fast.

We have a contract expiring this year. The new rates are about $30 an acre cheaper than they were 10 years ago for us.

I have some expiring after next year. I am waiting for a call back. If they offer me $30 less an acre and I don't have to do any major replanting, I'll take it. If I had to start over and pay all my seed costs, It'd go back to corn.

that’s what we’re gonna do. Doesn’t sound like we’d have to do any reseeding just cut a couple small volunteer ash trees out of the one buffer strip.
