i love my bow and dislike the shotgun season so i picked up a smoke pole and get a tag each year. i havent shot anything with it but my son got his first deer with it this year. i guess i like having the option and late in the year i can bring both out for a mixed hunt. it gives me something to...
just got to add my 2 cents....im not racist as my darker than me friends have pointed out in the past when a questionable word has slipped out. they and i see these as just words that can be used as long as not aimed at someone. you were not called it so why be upset, the word "cop" is offensive...
the first day of my season is planned and will be spent hunting with friends, we will spend part of the day in our bow stands and check out some public with some type of group effort with breakfast and lunch together.....2 of us will be telling bow kill stories and teasing of the ones that got...
we also have hostas in the yard in town and i notice the only time the deer realy bother to come visit us is when the hostas bloom or get the tall flower on them. at that time our yard is full of tracks and poop, then they are gone and i dont see sign of them anymore, this is in the summer
for me its about nature in its true form, with me there but with minimal impact. i love to sit in a tree and see it all happening around me.its great to get so close you could touch your prey and have them clueless. its about testing all the deer i wont shoot to better understand the one i want to
i hunt a commercial carrot field and the owner told me how the seed company sends new samples to try and a few years ago they gave him a new one that the deer wouldnt stay away from. they ate ALL of the new and didnt touch the other types in the field. when he reported this the company said this...
not the smartest move but i did plenty of dumb stuff as a "kid" and if the punishment is fair the rest of those wrestlers better watch their buts, i thought this was the fun years of a guys life. breaking the law is that and anyone that gets a traffic ticket is endangering someone and just as...
i say start looking for friendly people here, iowa is full of them, i bet you could trade a guided fishing trip for a guided hunting trip, non pro im talking.i know of people who have done it and it was great for everyone. it might get you some private to hunt also.
ladder stands can be bad to, i sat in one this year three times, the last one on the way down tha ladder sank in the mud and seperated from the platform. it should have been pinned but wasn't, i noticed it and got down safe but it could have been bad
more often than that is what i found while getting the boy sighted in for youth season. i would say run a brush and swab after every shot, you will find out when sighting it how forgiving it is but mine needs a dry scrub after a couple shots or acuracy falls quick and then a full clean at home...
why not add a couple seat pads to raise you up and give a nice soft spot for ya, i have a hang on stand and at 5-10 its a little tall for me, will have to check what it is next time i sit in it.
