    1st Season

I'll be out with our normal group of friends and family. It's all on private land but the way the neighbors push we have to react. We usually sit until 10 or so then make a push ourselves. Not the way I want to do it but it's more about the people you're with than the actual hunting. We did 2nd...

    Hawkeyes

I like to take it one game at a time just like the players and coaches are doing. That being said I am also nervous about Nebraska, seems like they always have our number. Most analysts agree that if we win out, including the championship game, we'll be in the playoffs. On a slightly related...

    AR Pistol Hunting Deer

I'm not arguing that the gun isn't a pistol as defined by the ATF, I'm just saying that it sounds to me that the DNR considers it a gun with a "shoulder stock" (when fitted with a sig brace) therefore making it illegal to use deer hunting. If it's a DNR regulation then it's a law as it applies...

    AR Pistol Hunting Deer

Why not use a quality sabot slug then? I honestly don't see a problem with them not allowing it. As LYON stated, it sounds like the DNR regulations say no shoulder stock on a centerfire gun. Pretty cut and dry to me. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be able to hunt with a high power but with...

    Blood trailing question

I shot a doe in early October that I was worried about the shot. She was at 30 yards and for some reason I was worried I had put my 20 yard pin on her. My arrow was in the ground a couple inches and right behind where she was standing. The arrow had blood on it but wasn't soaked. Found a bit of...

    Accuracy Trouble.

What kind of rest are you using and when is the last time you had your bow tuned (especially paper tuned)? Maybe I missed it but where are you missing? I.e. Low, high, left, right?

How does a "fence of convienience" work?

Looks like adverse possession: http://www.moeland.com/adverse.htm And looks like 10 years in Iowa: https://coolice.legis.iowa.gov/Cool-ICE/default.asp?category=billinfo&service=IowaCode&ga=83&input=564 I'm a bit curious about all this also. When we bought our house about 8 years ago we were...

    There Moving!

I've been seeing "rut" activity for about a week now with the heaviest I've seen over last weekend. That being said it's mostly been the little guys but I have seen one or two older bucks chasing. I didn't make it out at all on Monday or Tuesday but went out this evening and didn't see squat...

Non-resident w/o tag help retrieve game?

I think it would also depend on the CO that you would have to deal with if the situation arose. If you get one that is understanding and laid back, I'm sure a verbal warning would be the worst you would get. On the other hand, catch one on a bad day and...

    Fletchings

I have to ask why the fletching is curled. Are they old arrows or is the fletching hitting something on your bow? On my DXT I have to turn the cockvane horizontal (pointing towards my left arm) or the fletching will hit the cable and make the arrow not fly straight. Just something to consider.

    In the rain

This time of year I'm staying in. Not to beat a dead horse but light rain is ok, heavy rain in early October is pointless in my opinion.
