    Big rains last night

Think 4.5” on me. Ponds & whole ecosystem need catch up so I’ll take it!!! :). 6+ inches in some areas- yikers. So- in 25-ish years of growing something & watching weather - I don’t think I even know of a single year that didn’t have some issue… like “too much”. “Month of no rain”. “Severe...

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

metochlor can be used pre or post emergent on corn and beans. I use it in my second pass on both in most occasions. I personally don’t see it lasting past about 30 days if it’s hot & wet unless I go to a far higher rate- then I might get 45 days. Another example of planting interval…. If...

    When was the last time?

I saw one a month ago. Rougher tillable & timber. Think it was something like mid 4’s. Last summer I saw same thing in another county…. Mid 4’s. Now- both of em were ROUGH & probably wouldn’t farm or need pile of work. But… mid 4’s - don’t see anything in 4’s anymore really. On average -...

    Clethodim on Seedlings?

even without butyrac it could still burn it a bit. The biggest difference will be: does a guy do it on a hot day or cooler period? Pick a cooler period & later in the day. For example- late PM where it’s gonna rain the next day. Just don’t do it during scorching hot dry periods.

    Clover

Put some white & red in there so u have great clover the following year. When I plant crimson in fall- it’s there in spring so I’ve had good luck. Rye will be there for sure: Easy to kill it. Oats winter kill. I’d be fine with it. As I get lazier I have a few more of those. Lots of...

    Product pimps.

no sponsors and I could do it. I think the only time I would do a product is: if I made it and I believed in it + it would have to be very different than the gimmicky silly things out there The seed blends or anything !!!! Most these dudes will take $ for ANYTHING!! Not all but most...

Tactics for stopping or nailing poachers….

I am at the farm or someone at the farm 95% of the the time. Plenty of presence. Why I think we stop a lot on mine but like a mile or 2 away gets hit harder. I get the part of criminals being one step ahead. Totally understand. For example- guys I know had dudes in ski masks come in...

    Farm Crisis Documentary- really good!!!

bingo!!!! When 99% of people think back on real estate - it’s the Rosie memories! “I shoulda bought more”. Most purge the downtimes out of their minds. Heck, 2008-2010…. Dudes couldn’t sell farms. I Personally know at least a dozen guys that went bankrupt playing the land game. Was a great...

Tactics for stopping or nailing poachers….

I hate that I see this stuff “often” as I’m at the farm often & I do pay closer attention than the “average guy”. I might be better with my head in the sand. We’ve busted a pile of em & this is all across the state. & I do believe it still happens all over the state. I know it does. The 2 we...

    WRP experience

Here’s another HUUUGGGGEEE consideration with wrp…. Some tracts get in due to the fact they have hydric soils but they really don’t flood very often. Others have the same hydric soils but on high rainfall years the whole place can be completely under water. Like- take a speed boat across it...

    Spraying clover and alfalfa?
