I shoot a TC Triumph and it shoots tighter groups after it has been shot. It isn't a big deal @ 100 yards in, but @ 200 I am not comfortable taking a shot. I am thinking I will fire a round before I go, but I don't want to do this every time before I hunt. Anyone else have a muzzy like this...

What is more stressful, cold or snow? I am admittedly a trophy hunter first and the recent cold snap has me wondering how many bucks will be shed by late muzzy. I think it was the 2011 season when we had record snow in December and it seemed like 75% of the bucks were shed.

If I was going to be on stand all day I would bring both muzzy and shotgun. If I was doing drives I would only use the shotgun.

I got a pic of a big one shot by Dorchester, but I never counted points. Looked like a main frame 10 with a deep split g2 on one side. Matching droptines around a foot long.

Was the deer shot near Dorchester? I received a text today with a pic of a giant and it said "new record shot near Dorchester".

I recently took my son to the Pope and Young Museum in Chatfield, MN. Lots of Fred Bear history there. I highly recommend stopping by if you ever get a chance.

What reputable magazine is off half a million deer?

I have been seeing the most deer in alfalfa fields and pastures. Of course I had to drive around to figure that out. My usual spots weren't producing. I wish so many farmers wouldn't chisel plow.

I am more excited for this year than I have been in a long time. I haven't hunted in Iowa for a few years and it will be nice hunting where I grew up. Not 100% set on where I am going. I plan to drive around Sunday night and try to locate a herd or two and figure out a game plan after that...

I went with a group of 6 other guys last winter. We used Nitty's on Hunter's Point. Stayed out on the ice and had a blast. Fishing was pretty good.

Trout. Biggest was 22" and 5 lbs. 3 were 21". 2 were 19"+. Several over 16". I caught 6 of them using minnows. The other guys were using night crawlers. Biggest was caught on crawler. Caught in NE Iowa.

Anderson Silva has no chance. Bones is a much, much bigger man than Anderson. It wouldn't even be a fight imo. Sonnen showed how to beat up Silva and Bones would do a better job at it than Sonnen.
