Future of CRP

Regardless of the dollar amount, the buying power is about half of 10 years ago. Kinda have you by the balls. 10 years from today it'll be halved again. Not much money for total government control. After taxes...might be KMA time! o_O

We'll most CP 22. Are a long water
Ways which are typically bottom grounds and good rated soil. Most.
Situations would cap out the max.For c r p payment. It was 300/ acre last year. Now 240 I believe

I did get 3 of the applications back with the rental rates. Much lower than we were told the range was at application. Lucas Co general sign up top rate is 135. Had 2 that are bottomland high CSR these were sub 200 an acre 3 years ago we turned down 258.00. Will be interesting to see how many acres get signed up.

I am in process of applying. There is continuous sign up but strictly HELI land but only with an erodibility index over 20 (not sure how they determine that). No food plots allowed in the continuous program now. General sign up for everything, they determine the points and price. One farm was eligible for either program and had $190/ac for general and $200 for continuous HELI. Other farm has more slopes and what appears to be very erodible soil but had less than 20 erodibility index so wasn’t eligible for continuous. Only $150/ac for general for that farm.

2 of my 3 expiring contacts were at rates higher than the original signup. The 3rd is under discussion if it qualifies... Initial indication is it will, so I expect it to be higher than original rate are well.

My CRP guy in Minnesota said rates are $40-50 lower in my area. I’m not sure how each county in Iowa has changed ? Had anyone checked ?

Yes. I recently applied for an expiring contract as well as a new sign up.

Rates definitely down. I'd say down further than 40-50.

Sign-ups just closed for the year on June 6 btw.

Post above said no cp12 in continuous programs. (foodplots)

I found that not to be correct.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but nothing has changed administrativly in regards to rates. If they moved down it was because cash rents have moved down. We are still under farm bill 2018 rules..... right?

This would have been done quietly by Brook Rollins office . Pretty smart if the Trump plan was to reduce spending but the 2018 farm bill required a signup. Have a signup but make the rates low.

Many of the practices had a climate smart 20% bonus on soil rental rates. That was removed by the administration. So that will impact those practices.
Also rental rates were adjusted by national ag statistics computation used by fsa. That may account for either an increase or decrease in soil rental rates.
