Future of CRP

I wish this was made clear at the time the sign up. My local office said the rates should be in the range of 185-240. I made a 6 applications in 3 countys most did not even make 185. After getting the rates back from FSA i withdrew all but one of the applications. The local fsa staff does a great job but is very short handed, this created a huge work load for nothing.

Yes. I recently applied for an expiring contract as well as a new sign up.

Rates definitely down. I'd say down further than 40-50.

Sign-ups just closed for the year on June 6 btw.

Post above said no cp12 in continuous programs. (foodplots)

I found that not to be correct.
My FSA office told me that food plots were allowed in the General sign up but not continuous program. Yours said otherwise?

I talked to a guy that does CRP plantings & he had a client with 200 acres lined up for CRP, but then backed out .

My guess is the enrollment numbers will be lower ?

Some Continuous practices allow food plots for sure but most do not. HELI and Wetland “CP 23 and CP23A”and most Pollinator CP 42 and rare/declining CP25 do not allow food plots. SAFE is one practice thats continuous that allows food plots for sure but may be only open in certain areas.

Talked to local office and they were correct for my program. My continuous is in HELI and the manual clearly states "CP12 (food plots) is not an an eligible practice associated with any HELI practice". The HELI is the only reason I was eligible for the continuous rather than general.

That makes sense. I did get caught in a heli program years ago....

My biggest hesitation there is the value of the dollar 30 years from now will likely be significantly different.
Definitely will be if history is any indication. But also could be the difference between getting something as opposed to nothing if they change crp significantly in future years. I've lost a few acres over the years due to crp changes.
