Earth Ponds

Have several more watering holes that I want to do. Have previously dug holes with skidsteer but debating using an Earth Pond. They seem extremely expensive for what they are but wonder if they are worth it. Have you guys tried them and if so are they worth the money or keep digging holes with skidsteer?

I would use a rubber made over them. Way less $. I have water holes I’ve dug & different types of tubs. I personally like the ones I dig better. I make them all clay, deep & steep. I honestly don’t worry much about midges. They are clean & full of life (not sludge). & they hold, 1000-2000 gallons easily & fill themselves.

This was my first time trying. Took maybe 45 mins. Super easy. Steep & all clay. It’s super clean to this day. It has some clay color to it but when u look close- it’s super clean. It has all grass above it so it’s not like nasty stuff fills it. It might not look like it but this is pry a couple thousand gallons.

I had 4 of them put in just like that last June 20th, got 2 inches of rain on the 24th which filled em halfway and with all the rain leading to July 6th they were full and have been since. mine are 5 feet deep with bentonite clay worked into the base
