    tree stand overlooking my ground

Well at least he did ask up front for permission to hunt. That might show something about his character. Maybe he is only intending to shoot deer that cross onto the land that he has has permission to hunt. (I'd feel the same way you do though with a stand right on the border). Rather than...

    Things I don't understand??

Ghost said it all : "Each of us that has contact with a beginning hunter regardless of their age has a responsiblity to continue to stress the importance of hunter safety." I was lucky to have my grade school basketball/football coach teach me the ropes. It is unbelievable how someone could...

    Water purifier's

My sister just returned from a 4 month overland journey across the Mid East, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, etc..this was a camping/roughing it trip. I sent her some gear from Cabellas and other companies that she said saved her butt. (she had some great testimonials for Wiggy's Sleeping Bags). Along...

    Dove Hunting

Always used to be the first hunt of the fall for me in Wyoming too. I think Iowa thinks they're a 'songbird'.

    AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT!!

I'd agree FireDog, circled back - I hear that alot. I'm sure it would have been found if it dropped 100 yds from the stand initially.

    The Great White Hunter

Is that for real ? I actually watched a doe following a cat in the woods from my stand one hunt, but never thought a cat would chase after a deer.

How do you display your bird?

Nice display. I've never thought of saving the spurs, pretty cool.

    Good Elk Gun??

I've hunted with a Remington 30.06 bolt action since high school. Great gun, plenty of knock down power. 150 or 180 gr. You can't read an article on a good all around rifle without seeing the 30.06 mentioned.

    Dream Hunt

We do have it pretty good here in Iowa. The Whitetail is one of the most elusive and wiley game I've hunted. Alaska is beautiful and I love hunting up there, but taking a caribou was no where near as exciting to me as bowhunting whitetails is. Now - Muddys Griz with a bow would certainly get...

    Sad story

I agree with all4's. Sure it's sad, but it can't be helped. The reason IA has bonus quotas for does is because harvesting a doe thins more than one deer. (you can't help that it was to be a buck). One a side note, there's a place we hunt in MN that has some taxidermy of twin fawns that were...

    what a "great" find

Nice..... I also found two bucks dead in a creek where I hunt. One was a nice 5 on one side, and sort of a long spike on the other side with nubs. The other one had his rack cut off. I cannot understand why anyone would want a rack they did not harvest legally.
