Trapping coyotes on frozen creeks & in general, QUESTIONS!!!!

There used to be some hound hunters around here. One of the guys had some good turkey and deer hunting ground. We traded permission for permission. Everyone was happy. As far as I know the guys that are still alive from that group dont have hounds anymore.

    Tree orders for 2026

Did you protect them all or leave them be. I bought a 3 point tree planter a couple weeks ago and trying to decide whether to plant a lot of trees and either not protect them or protect a few or plant less and protect all of them. Right now have several hundred in the garden overwintering but...

    Osage orange trees

If you drew a line straight south of waterloo and straight west of cedar rapids, where the lines meet would be it.

    Osage orange trees

I bought some osage orange seeds that were supposedly dormant last year. I soaked them in water for 48 hours and are now in the fridge in damp peat moss. I guess I will see if they grow this spring. We currently have zero osage orange trees on the property but thought I would try to plant some...

    Orange Army

I saw a ton of deer, just not quite the deer i was after. Saw a really nice tall 8 that was really tempting but he should be really nice next year if he makes it.

Ive put them out at noon and killed deer out of them that afternoon. Doesn't seem to bother them in my experience.

    Flail mower on standing corn?

If i knew how to post a saved video from my Snapchat I could post a video of vertical tilling corn that had not been picked. We destroyed 200 acres of corn in 2020 in a real farming practice. Also have mowed soybeans off with a rotary mower. Can't remember the year on those but they got flooded...

    2025 CRP PAYMENTS

Full time farmer here. I don't get the hate on crp from other farmers. We already have burdensome supplies of pretty much all cash grains. Without crp it would be even worse. Margins suck enough the way it is.

He would have been as old as he was gonna get if he walked by me.

    Management/cull buck identification question

Thanks guys for reassuring what I already thought. Gave myself the green light on him tonight and he read the script. Deer movement was awesome. Saw a wide 8 that I had on the hit list, but never gave me a shot. Multiple does running. Saw my main target buck several hundred yards away. Then this...

    Management/cull buck identification question

So there's been quite a bit of discussion in a couple of the threads about problems with high grading where young bucks with great potential dont get to reach their potential. Similarly quite a bit of discussion about the need to remove inferior genetics as well. My question is at what age of...

    Rut Action/Movement Reports

I hunted both saturday and Sunday evenings and saw a lot of deer both sits. Both times got within 50 yards of a target buck but didn't quite get close enough. Passed a buck yesterday at 8 yards that I'm still not sure if I did the right thing. Bucks here are definitely on the move. Hopefully i...

    Views From the Stand 2025

The last couple days I have seen quite a few bucks cruising in the open and quite a few bucks with does locked down clear out in the open. Seen a couple breeding sessions as well.
