I dont care either way- but is it actually a farming practice to mow it? I dont know a single farmer who mows their corn? Or is it opening a grey area with the mowing as baiting? (serious questoin, NOT throwing stones)

My guess is it would work great. As far as legal i would guess the same as mowing corn. Large flail mowers were pretty common one common brand was a side winder .Now seems most just run stalks down with a Turbo till or something similar.

If i knew how to post a saved video from my Snapchat I could post a video of vertical tilling corn that had not been picked. We destroyed 200 acres of corn in 2020 in a real farming practice. Also have mowed soybeans off with a rotary mower. Can't remember the year on those but they got flooded after they were mature and it is illegal to sell flooded mature crops. So pretty tough to say it isn't a farming practice. Just not real common.

Thats a good point about destroying crops for an Insurance claim we have had to do that also . Had the field appraised then we mowed it to destroy it Crop insurance came back checked it could not be harvested they paid the Guarantee minus the 5-6 bu appraisal .

If it is in a program, I'd inquire with the FSA. As mentioned before, I ran down some rows of corn in a food plot with a snowmobile years ago and got a reprimand from them. Luckily no fine, but they were not happy.

No program im just looking for feed back which one would do a better job ? Corn residue can be a pain in the ass for a food ploter with smaller equipment

They will do a great job on corn residue. Need to be run lower than the guy in the video. Also a tiller set shallow will do the same thing. The one in the video is way more complicated than needed a simple 3 point one works fine
