Who do you prefer, DeSantis or Trump?

    Scary...but true.

Who do you prefer, DeSantis or Trump?

My thoughts: Trump: I want age limits in place. Needs to provide and answer, not an excuse on why wall didn't get completed (we know why, but articulate instead of insult). Will he spend 4 years in vindication mode? Would his 4 years be like his final year in the last term where nothing got...

DEAR OTHER MIDWEST DEER STATES….. From: Iowa

Sent you a PM / DM over there. Average age of nonsense over there is 55+....intelligent conversations are out the window.

    TSS thoughts?

410 TSS is a ton of fun for turkey hunting. Would have to think the 12 gauge TSS loads are rockets hitting 'em!

What’s more valuable for holding/producing/hunting deer? Crops vs crp?

Depends...does the area lack cover or lack food? That being said, I'll stick to quality cover as that is where mature bucks want to be pushing does all day long. Not out in a picked bean field.

Who do you prefer, DeSantis or Trump?

Trump will be tied up with legal battles until November of 2024...I think that could be a reason why we are seeing what is going on now. That being said, we we need age limits. I don't want another 80 year old president.

    Controlled Timber Burns

So...at 50 acres and 100 trees, that is only 2 tree's per acre. Not much change. Now, I am assuming that it wasn't all spread out evenly like this...but you get the drift. Yes, you will need a more aggressive TSI if you are seeking wildlife benefit. 25-50% open canopy. A good wildlife...

    Controlled Timber Burns

Timber burns are typically recommended every 3-5 years. Also, if you are just burning without any TSI work then this may actually be counterproductive. Sunlight to the forest floor is key.

Ran a fire through the farm this weekend

Road systems and creeks are your best friend. Another reason why I'm a huge proponent of having a road around your property and not just through it. Humidity between 30-60% ( I prefer 40-60%), Winds 3-8 mph

Ran a fire through the farm this weekend

Fire is my favorite turkey "food plot" :) Our month of March is extremely busy, so we had to take advantage of the day!

Ran a fire through the farm this weekend

That's the plan. Since I'm in SW Missouri, we will green up a couple of weeks sooner. This is the first fire after the TSI work was completed. So, I'm pretty excited to see how it responds.

Ran a fire through the farm this weekend

Really didn't look for any. For 2 guys, we were VERY busy getting this done on a 1 day burn :) I will have to go looking when back up there. Last year found some small ones after a burn...but, we burned in March last year.

Ran a fire through the farm this weekend

Timing and weather finally cooperated. Have had a 52 acre burn planned this dormant season. While not "great" satellite pics, EOS has a landviewer that captured these aerial images. The before and after. 26 acres of old field management burned, and 26 acres of TSI woods burned. Was a little...

    GM AFM Disabler

Been reading and looking at them lately. From my studying, it sounds like regular oil changes are the best thing for AFM engines. Which, does make some sense. For example, my wife's tahoe has 245k on it. I'm pretty religious about oil changes. It seems to be going strong. BUT, I am looking...

    Land prices / insane!!!

I believe land has the ability to follow behind some of the "hot" real estate markets from the past couple of years. It was / is "sexy" in the beginning, but it loses its luster quickly for those who aren't truly invested into it. For example, I keep tabs on some vacation properties down in a...

    Rut Action/Movement Reports

SWMO was pretty slow with rut behavior this past weekend. Does still grouped up, and only saw a couple of spikes dogging yearlings. Tons of acorns down here as well. Camera's didn't show much either. This upcoming weekends weather looks primo...unfortunately for us, this weekend is the start...

    Hunting in the rain

One of my best bucks was within 30 minutes after the rain passed through 1 morning. Went to town, ate breakfast, got dressed in the camper, and when the rain started to lighten up booked it to the stand. He came through like a madman quickly after that. Community and hot scrapes are also a...
