    For those here that planted

 Have you planted pumpkins before for a foodplot? I've been " trying" for years to inspire people to do it but so few dare to venture into doing so.

Are you leaving any for the deer NC? Just looked at my pumpkin plots a bit ago. Kinda disappointed in the number of fruit growing compared to the way the plants themselves grew.

How elusive/ secluded can deer be?

It IS wild Skip. Thanks! One thing for certain is..., nothing is certain in nature. It is that factor that keeps me going. Always something to learn. Nuther mention. Old black bear. Unreal how smart they are.! I've shot close to 60 bear and have never killed a giant. For 35 years I...

How elusive/ secluded can deer be?

This is an eye opener. Proof positive actually. Bout 5 years ago, I had a doe show up at a mineral site tucked in thick cover. (Camera). half her right ear missing. She had 2 fawns then so guessing she was at least 2.5 then. This is dang near right in my back yard where I have watched 100s of...

    Skeletal n shot placement.

Kinda neat to watch deer at close range when they have thier summer coats. You really get to see the bone structure. Re enforces my thoughts that archers should aim 2_3 " farther forwards than what commonly thought.

    Water hole question!

Certainly not! I rate watering spots right up there with foodplots. Studies I've read about EHD shows mud is what's needed for the midges to breed. A buried tank just makes more sense in that regard.

    Water hole question!

Looks like those places would be good candidates for EHD breeding grounds 83.? Just thinking a tank would be better for that issue.

    Rattling antlers

Very seldom do squirrels chew antlers here.

    Brassicas

I fear the brassica plots won't survive my hunting time frame (late October). They are getting wounded!

    Rubbing & Scrape Post

Got 4 in today. Normally I wait till Oct but I was bored this morning. These are a hybrid popple/ cottonwood. Has a real pleasant odor,it's soft and has a nice white color under the bark. Not sure if I've ever mentioned this before but if you don't want to dig a hole for them, wiring to an...
