Nothing wrong with getting lucky while stacking up points.

I've talked to people that hunt WY elk from out of state. Their recommendation to me has been to save points up to ~9 to get a better unit and better hunt. They've told me 4-5 points isn't enough to see a difference. I'm sitting on 7 points right now...almost there.

The deer on my place are in luck then. I've seen them eat locust pods, but wouldn't call them anything close to a primo food source in the midwest. Down south they're "sweeter" and more desired. I have a hard time finding any acorns still laying around, but locust pods..... If that's all...

I'd keep the same model saw with your next purchase. Also, keep an extra bar and chain available for pinching if you don't end up getting a new saw.

Something else that helps me is not going to the woods on an empty stomach. A fatty meal keeps the furnace stoked for better circulation, at least for me.

Those are the facts. Had a neighbor several years ago that raised russian boars and some got out one fall. They tore the $hit out of the creek bottom on my place that fall. After several were popped during rifle the rest decided it was best to get back in the pen up the road.

This buck would have been smoked without neighbors passing him during rifle. He was passed at least 5 times that I know of on multiple farms, including mine. The 3 year olds typically cover so much ground that those with the best head gear aren't making it since people shoot for antler size...

I can’t find the post on here, but someone posted a Wayne county buck a few years back that was identical to this buck shot in Mercer county on the farm next to me. They both looked identical with the double tines on the left side. The Wayne County buck was still on the hoof in the pic someone...

What's the habitat, pressure like immediately surrounding your farm? It sounds like hunters around you aren't shooting the first APR legal buck (or any buck if not in APR county) they see.

That's definitely most of the old bucks I've seen in person and on camera. There's a few ghosts around that have some head gear.

I like the annual that grows wild. The squirrels get quite a few of those along with the goldfinch on their way through. Still get quite a few pods for seeds even after all that pillaging. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Driving up to Omaha on I-29 is a dense stand of annual sunflowers. I can’t imagine the amount of game that would find this attractive through winter. It’s a good double the height or more of the fence post in the foreground. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
