    Switchgrass

I'll quote Roger Samson. "You need about 10 weeks of growth before the first killing frost. You also need a high seedling vigor variety like RC Big Rock. You need rain after planting to initiate that growth. So maybe before August 20th to be a bit on the safer side." I personally planted last...

    Switchgrass

I agree, for bedding, the end result of RC vs CIR is not any different. I do think RC is better for screening as it's a bit taller. Neither, however, is where RC really outshines CIR. RC is easier to establish tenfold. Thats the gigantic advantage imo. I don't even plant switchgrass till...

    Switchgrass

If planting large swaths of switchgrass this is what I tell people. Get the switchgrass established, clean, and all set. Once that is done start breaking it up with trails and pockets of trees and shrubs ultimately ending up with a beautiful mosaic of diverse cover.

DNR Seeks Public Input on Promotional Liscenses

My note Denise, I am writing to you in regards to "special" deer tags originally designed to promote Iowa natural resources. This rule is completely archaic and should be eliminated. This rule came to be before social media. Everyone in the hunting world knows about Iowa now. There is up to a...

    Turnip Plot Advice

So you sprayed 20 oz per acre 24d and 40 oz per acre gly. With your 4# 24d I'd be spraying 32 oz per acre and 64 oz per acre gly. And switch to Ester 24d. I would drag, broadcast, pack. I would not drag after seeding.

    Turnip Plot Advice

Herbicide should be expressed in chemical per acre. How many gallons of total spray solution is your sprayer putting out per acre? I'm not a fan of amine 24d. Ester formulation seems to work much better. 4 wheeler and drag Will def work!
