So this is the results 12 days after doing foliar spraying and basal bark spraying with 5% triclopyr mix. The trees in the brush pile (an old crp clearing) was basal bark sprayed, and the small trees next to the brush pile were foliar sprayed. Mostly shingle oak outside the brush pile. For those...
Well, my pumpkins and beans are up, I didn't know if the pumpkin seeds were viable still as they were gathered from pumpkins from 2020 and 2021, hence why I planted 6-8 per mound instead of 2 or 3. Looks like they are just fine!
I sprayed glyphosate 2x over a couple weeks then disked the field. Then I came back around with a tiller to get a nice seed bed.. I then broadcast soybeans as a companion crop and harrowed them in. Then walked the field dropping 6-8 pumpkin seeds every 5 steps and covering them with dirt...
Yes it is! When we initially got into land, we tried to put everything into crp as I knew less about row cropping and even less on how to vet a tenant.
These days, we're taking the good ground as the crp contracts expire and putting them back into row crop. Still have 5-7 years to go!
I have...
I keep trying different things... Last year I used a 2%crossbow solution doing a broadcast spray from an ATV. It seemed to set them back last year, but I didn't think it killed them as that field is full of them again this year. This year I've treated a spot with a 5% tryclopyr solution with a...
I'm not familiar with those individual programs but it's important to me to understand the mid management practices required of each one. It might be important to you knowing how to split the fields. How about food plots in those programs or do you not desire them/have other means for plots?

NW Missouri, just outside of Denver Mo is the farm I'm fighting these on trying to keep my crp clean....... I'm sure there are smaller ones that could be dug up as well but I didn't look that closely as the hundreds of 2 and 3 footers had my attention..... let me know as I'll probably try to...
Did you say most of your potted carry over chestnuts die? I don't like hearing that as I was going to try that this year for the first time. Is the work around to just get them in the soil or I wonder what the solution is to that....
I have hundreds of volunteer shingle oak I'm trying to eradicate, 2,3' trees. I've mowed them, sprayed them and just can't keep up. You can come and get as many as you want....
I think peat moss is the ticket for stratification in the fridge. I initially just had mine in a plastic bag with a moist paper towel but after 3 months of not seeing much progress I put moist potting soil in the bags for another couple months and that seemed to help get them going.
Chestnuts will die if frozen under 25 degrees F is my understanding. don't know where you're at, but many will mulch them if planting as a nut outside and winter temps dip below that.
I put mine in the fridge and it took 4-5 months for me to see roots. I seen some guys say it only takes a...
How easy will it be to separate the trees/roots when planting in their final spot?
I have 10 growing in a mineral tub and that's my concern. You have a whole lot more than I do, what's your thoughts?
Received some chestnuts from a member on here last fall. Started them in pots and now, I have chestnut trees!
Of the bareroot persimmon I planted this year, 27 of the 30 are growing as well. I planted and tubed most of them.
Should have done this years ago!
