Gross Booner From Public Land - first IA buck

Thanks for all the comments guys. Dropping him off to Joe Meder tomorrow to be mounted. Joe came highly recommended so that's where I'm taking him. Still can't believe it happened to me. If I never shoot another buck I will have no complaints.

Gross Booner From Public Land - first IA buck

Well guys just getting a chance to sit down at the computer after a crazy couple of days. November 6th, 2011 will go down as probably one of the best if not the best days of bow hunting in my life. I was born and raised in Michigan but moved to Iowa 2.5 years ago for a new job opportunity and...

WOW, I carry too much stuff with me.

Mine is way cooler....it's camo!!! In all seriousness I hunt a lot with a climber. It's the climber, my bow, and the camo fanny pack with essential. only...including napkins.....everything else stays in the truck or home. Only time i bring food or water is if i am planning an all day sit. I...

WOW, I carry too much stuff with me.

I used to carry a backpack full of crap and just got tired of it. Now I have a small waist/ fanny pack to carry essentials and that's it. I have a rule, if it doesn't fit in the fanny pack i don't need it. My life is a lot easier and lighter now.

    Climbing Stand Question

Yes you need the strap...all climbers do. If the bottom section slips off your feet while climbing and you can't reach it you are screwed. The strap keeps the 2 sections together and within reach. You can just use a piece of rope to tie the two together.

    What would you do....

    What would you do....

Nothing sporting about letting an animal suffer either. To each his own.

    Youth Bows??

Anybody have any experience with the Bear Apprentice youth bow, both good and bad? This bow seems to have more draw length and poundage adjustment that any youth bow out there. Just loking for some opinions or suggestions on some of the youth bows out there or if anybody has any right handed...

Far-fetched?? IW's Believe it or Not..

About 15 years ago a buddy and I went ice fishing in Michigan (I grew up there) on a miserable January day. We had a portable ice shanty so we toughed it out. We were jigging for walleye on this trip. I had a portable fishing graph that i used in both summer and winter. The transducer had a...

    Tek 4 Clothing

I was wondering if anybody has tried the Tek 4 base layer clothing from HS? Does it work as advertised as far as keeping you dry, coool when it's warm, and warm when it's cold? Looking for a good base layer that won't break the bank. Seems like a decent price if it works as advertised. Anybody...

    Muck vs rubber boots?

LaCrosse ATS 1200 gram thinsulate. About $120 for a pair but I take good care of mine and get 3-4 seasons out of them easily. I can wear them until temps hit single digits, then I switch to a heavy liner boot.

    IllumAnight Tracking Aid?

Or you could just practice alot and make good shots with a razor sharp broadhead and follow a good blood trail the old fashioned way. Heck make a good shot with the broadheads avaialble these days and most of the time you will watch them go down.

    Odd Rack

I thought the left side on this buck was pretty cool. Haven't seen anything like it especially with his right side being so perfect.

If you talk to a farmer, be careful

I agree, I support farmers also, especially the dairy guys. I grew up on a family owned dairy farm in MI. About 15 years ago my uncle retired and they sold the cows and my dad got a "normal" job. People ask my dad if he misses farming and he just basically laughs as milk prices are pretty much...

    Nice 12 and Sideways Jack

Got a lot of pics of this 12 point but I think he may only be a 2.5 year old deer. Loads of potential but he would my personal best. I kind of hope he doesn't walk by me so I don't have to make a decision. Never seen a rack like in the last pic....so I call him Sideways Jack. Sideways Jack
