Respect huh? You can't respect another hunter and share the property at the same time? How many acres does it take before you think two hunters could "respectfully" hunt together? Man it is so damn difficult to find ANY ground to hunt, and if more and more is leased and the highest bid wins...
Sounds a little selfish to me........ I hunt 100 acres of woods in winneshiek co and share it with 3 other guys I had never met before. We exchanged numbers, share stand locations, and communicate when and where we are going to hunt.
That being said I know there are hunters that do not mesh...
Today I had one of the most fun hunts I have ever had, without killing anything. I have tried rattling for several years and have never once had anything come in. I moved a stand to a part of the property I hunt that I had never been to before. Put the stand up and sat down at about 11:30...
Those can be really difficult to track down. Some counties have an entry for deed holder and also one for controller. The controller is typically the decision maker for the property. You can also get contact info directly from the assessors office. Just give them the parcel number.
I bought a lotto ticket this afternoon. Check out what the symbol I needed to match was! I think it has to be a sign from above. Its too bad it wasn't more than a $2 win. My 4.5 days of vacation starts tomorrow afternoon. Will be in the stand most of that time.
The online GIS data pages are excellent sources of ownership information. They are typically quite accurate with landowner info and also where the boundaries are (it will often also give you the financial transaction data, such as how much so and so paid for it).
As far as government...
I just traded a Beretta shotgun in for a new remington 11-87 2 weeks ago at the jordan creek scheels. The guys helping me was really good to work with. Had lots of patience and helped me tremendously in picking out the right gun (I wanted a combo slug/smooth bore). He told me straight up that...
I don't think its so much the size of the deer he shoots, but the outrageous claims he makes. Personally, I think people like that deserve all the "chit" they are given.
Out in the stand this morning. Deer seem to be moving about an hour earlier than they have for say, the last 6 months or so......... must be the weather change coming or something.
I was in northern fayette county today for work. At 2:30 I was a few miles north of hawkeye and within 50 yards of the paved road there was a group 6 bucks (no does) feeding in a picked corn field. Biggest was a 150's 10 point and the rest were small 6's and 8's.
So do you think the rain has any effect on your scent control? What I mean is, I really want to sit in my favorite stand tomorrow night but a North wind is the worst and guess what, its going to be a North wind tomorrow. Will the rain provide any cover?
OMG you are kidding me right? I had been looking for a slug barrel for my pintail for quite a while and was told they dont make them. I traded my pintail in for a new Remington 11-87 last weekend! Damn! I loved that gun!
I have bought 3 cans this year and have had no malfunction. I used the acorn rage scent a couple weeks ago and had deer all over. Sprayed it in the leaves in one of my shooting lanes and had a 110" 8 pointer stand there and sniff it for 30 seconds. On the other hand I tried doe pee and it...
Huh? Baiting with a buck bomb? Its no different than doe pee in a bottle. there is nothing for a deer to eat or lick. Is there something in the law regarding scents that I am missing? I guess I don't agree with your interpretation but I will be checking with a warden......
