That's strange, maybe they accidentally put a lesser quality blind rods in his by accident. I'd call Primos, they will send you new rods for free. My Dark Horse rods are like tanks and its one of the overseas blinds.
Great job on breaking the curse. Killing a bird at 40 yards with a bow is a heck of a shot.
My dad shot a 29 pound tom a few years ago with a 12" beard and no spurs so that isn't out of the ordinary.
A guy I know anchored one with an 8.5" beard a couple of weeks ago. She weighed 15 lbs. He had been chasing her for 4 years and finally got a crack at her. Cool bird.
I took down my 2nd bird of the season this morning. I went back to the "gobbler ridge" where I took my first bird of the season last Tuesday. This marks 5 out of my last 6 toms have come from this spot. Pretty unbelievable spot. Like last week, the alarm went off early, 3:00am to be exact...
I was going to start a post on this but since someone else did, I'll just chime in. I was hunting with my dad for 2nd season this weekend down in SE Iowa. We have about 500 acres of prime turkey hunting ground to hunt and it was the weirdest turkey hunting experience I've ever had down there...
This particular area I hunt is all river bottom big woods and very little crop fields. The birds like to stick to the open mature hardwood ridge tops in this area and just go ridge top to ridge top all day. I think the biggest field in the area might be 10 acres big and I rarely see a bird in...
I had an exciting hunt this morning, first turkey hunt of the year. I had about an hour drive and a long walk so it was an early morning for me. I got the blind set up on "gobbler ridge" as I now call it about a hour before sunrise. Nothing much to the hunt, daybreak came and a bird that was...
Specific season and only on your land. When it comes to turkey tags just going with 2 statewide tags is the way to go IMO so you can hunt other properties you have permission on.
You guys are crazy but that's awesome getting out there in this crap. I only had 2 days of vay kay left so I just opted for the better forecasted days. Tomorrow looks like its going to be the day to go. Calm and sunny and crisp. Should be a beautiful morning in the timber. Good luck to the...
I'm not even going opening day now, going to sit it out until Tuesday morning. I'll usually brave anything but snow, hail, bitter cold, and 30 mph winds are going to keep me inside I'm afraid.
