Awesome, just the info I was looking for. I was contemplating getting one of those Primos 350 yard spotlights that attaches to the scope but I'll roll with just the scope and see how it goes...I have the 50mm on my AR.
When there is no moon what do you guys roll with for seeing them at...
What are those types of chestnuts that create a "buckeye" type black shiny nut? One of my co-workers have some of those in his backyard and he said the deer eat the crap out of those but I can't seem to find what variety that is.
BTW to answer the OP's question, I'd plant both. Give them...
I've always used hot water and ajax to clean my muzzleloaders at the end of the season. This combo really cuts the old grease that the breach plug leaves behind and totally breaks up sabot and powder residue. I like to use a wire swab to scrub out the breach plug threads really good. Let the...
Big picture, the #1 thing they can do right now to save our deer herd is to get rid of the January antlerless season. Taking away a buck tag isn't going to help increase the deer population.
Prayers sent to the family.
I'm surprised guys still chase yotes in trucks with gas prices the way they are. Seems like you could save money and probably bag more yotes just setting up and calling them in. To each their own I guess.
Lots of ways to do them. Wanted to add that if you really want to cut the grease and fat and cut down the simmering time, add a couple of cups of borax and a cup of ajax to your simmer. The flesh just falls off in that stuff and knocks the grease out.
Your friend is pulling your leg. If the DNR wants the population to come back taking away one anysex tag won't make a difference at all. Taking away the doe tags will. I suspect the DNR will issue their recommendations as usual and the governor will throw those recommendations in the trash.
I killed a female pup during 2nd shotgun season. I've been out twice calling them, no luck so far. I'll start hitting it hard here in a week or so. They are real thick in southern Iowa. Have to administer a little fawn protection.
No way an outfitter that relies on a good crop of deer to pay the bills would allow a slaughter like that. At least, a smart outfitter wouldn't allow that. I could be wrong. That picture is ridiculous. Pile 'em up I guess!
