In the Weather that is. Yes, this is your online weather guy, just reading what was put out by the Quad Cities weather office. They say big change coming in the weather pattern. Storms to finally hit west coast, which means warmer in Iowa. temps in 50s and 60s they say by the end of the month! We shall see? Wouldn't be surprised. One extreme follows another!

I hope so.. would be perfect timing for me to start looking for sheds in my area.. seems they always wait until and last wk of feb and into march to drop.

Bring it on, we need it in MN for the deer and turkey...I did hear the say thing on Channel 5 news last night!!

Only problem with early warm is what has happened just about every spring I have been out here in Iowa. Gets way too warm in March.
Forces all my fruit trees to bloom, then,,,Wham! A hard freeze the first of April. No Fruit!

It at least looks like you got your snow the other day.
You should be happy about that?

Thanks,,but like I said, With ground froze 3 ft ot 4 down, any snow melt will just run off. Even when it begins to rain, unless frost is out,,just run-off.

Ground froze three to four foot down? Not sure about that, especially in areas that have snow cover.

Most areas of Iowa never see frost line below 36 inches, especially southern Iowa where you are at.

Reports from around Iowa, is all I haveheard. My land was bare most of Jan, with sub zero winds blasting. However deep it is,,I bet it's max!

42" is usually how deep footings go in for frost. I would doubt it would get this deep. 36" would be a good bet but no deeper. Sometimes the snow will draw the frost out. Be glad you got some snow. ;)

I also know the building strength of the Sun, will do a number on the ground in March. I have been amazed in the past, at how fast the frost comes out.

This deep frost is great for the soil. As it freezes it expands and loosens up the soil as the thaw comes. My farm needs a good loosening.
