Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

Th Thanks, the co-op was telling me that status would be an option but that looks pretty expensive. My guess is I have a good month before I need to put something on at this point.

May be worth cultipacking the area when soil is moist to push seeds down as much as possible?

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

So I planted my 2 acres of corn this weekend in between rains and was planning to put some pre-emergent down, while emptying my sprayer the nozzle to the tank cracked. So I'm DOA on the pre emergent (atrazine). I won't be back to the property for a few weeks most likely, is there something I can...

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

For those of you putting down 2,4D for burn down, don't you worry about the plant back time or not? I'm kind of a chicken sh*t so I don't usually take any chances on that kind of stuff.

Label rate of atrazine won't hurt, there's already some broadleafs in there.

    Beans and corn together

It sure sounded to me that he was planting them together so the deer didn't have browse lines.

    Beans and corn together

Thanks Jake, I think a reduced overall yield is acceptable as long as the deer leave them alone during the summer months. Part of what Tony said that had me curious was he made it sound like the grain conference he went to in Louisville almost made it seem like he was getting higher yields, and...

    Beans and corn together

I listened to this podcast a few weeks ago and walked away with more questions than answers. Some questions that came to mind after he said 70% beans, 30% corn...What rates? What fertilizer? What herbicide? I find the high oil corn pretty interesting too, I have heard Don Higgins talk about...

When do deer use corn vs beans

Snow and cold is always beans due to the higher protein percentage is what I've always figured. No snow and I've always seen them concentrate on the carbs with the corn.

    Starting The Release Process

Might consider the groundhog radish or similar that will grow through that hard pan and loosen up your soil. Just a thought.

    Miscanthus x Gianteus

This time of year is getting late for treating foxtail, it can be harder to control with quinclorac as it gets more mature. YMMV

Anyone have any experience? Looking to make a purchase on one but interested in feedback. They fit the bill for what I think I'm looking for. Thanks!

    Switchgrass

I've got the granular version of atrazine, all the information I can find states 1lb of granular is equal to 1 qt of the liquid version. Does anyone have experience with the granular? Farmer told me they use a lesser rate for their corn spraying but they don't have any experience spraying...

Ridgetop Plot-to screen or not to screen

I've had enlist beans on a few different properties and the deer always find them, especially in late December into February. Never had a problem with them lasting beyond that.

    Switchgrass

I'm not sure I follow. It won't all start at the same time unless it has a higher soft seed %. I've never seen great numbers from RW seed tags. Either way I don't know how it relates to the part of my previous post that you quoted.

    1 Buck state In iowa??

Yes, in the 200 series area where my land is, you get one either/or tag for the license fee of $28 and can buy one "bonus" antlerless tag for $15. So I can shoot two deer in my area no matter the weapon. If I don't fill my tags with archery I have to buy another license to gun hunt and then...
