Clean barrel? One or two shot dirty barrel? What are you using for a rest? How is the trigger pull? If memory serves me correctly, BH can be fussy about the size of the flash hole in your breech plug (0.032" I believe). At least be sure flash hole is clean. PLEASE don't be offended but if all...
Not! Rumen bloat is very localized and this critter is puffed up all over the torso... also woulda been dead (suffocated) long before it got that blowed up from rumen distention. I'm gonna stick with subcutaneous emphysema (air under the skin).
Could be fluid swelling but I would expect that to gravitate down the legs more than I see here. Best bet would be air under the skin. Used to see it occasionally in horses. Could be the result of an injury to the trachea allowing air to leak out under the skin or more often a wound (wire cut?)...
Here at home, I clip the blooms off about half of the clover. Then 10-14 days later, I clip the other half. That way I’ve always got some fresh growth for the deer and some blooming clover for the wife’s bee hives... Clover on SW IA farms get clipped less often, maybe as little as once a year...
I should prolly let Luke answer as he is the smokeless “guru” but mine is a 45 cal. bare bullet model. Given a broadside standing deer size target, a solid rest, minimal wind (0r time to make measurements and adjust), I would confidently take a shot with mine at 400 yards.
I think if you let the rye run its course it will reseed itself and continue to compete with the clover. I wouldn't do it if your goal is a clover plot. I just clipped some rye for the second time that was planted with clover last fall. Don't know if it was the dry fall or goofy winter but the...
To be honest, I've never worried about grass control around cedars! I spend way too much time killing them out of my warm season grasses to worry about protecting them when they are where I do want them. In my experience, cedars pretty much thrive on neglect. RU (on the green part) will do them...
Either place has plenty of good habitat. I've got a farm 20 miles north of Clarinda that is pretty decent. The further south you get the more hills & timber you'll find. Gets better & better until you hit the MO border, then the rules/seasons change and it's all different. Clarinda is further...
