    Propagating cedar trees- Thoughts

I've got some about that size that I know are 30 years old (cause I planted them). I'm sure that is quite variable depending on how crowded etc... Cut it down and count the annual rings. ;)

    Thoughts on Dicks?

I actually did contact Theisen's and asked about their age policy on selling long guns and their answer was that "they follow Federal laws when selling guns". I didn't specifically ask about the rumors they were going to not sell to 18 year olds but their answer implied that until Fed law...

Treflan Herbicide - weed control for brassica

I switched to Liberty Link beans and got a decent handle on the pigweed. Now I've got a problem with velvetleaf!!! May try RR beans again for a year &/or rotate corn in part of the plots. Velvetleaf doesn't seem to do as well in the corn.

Knight D.I.S.C. Elite Muzzleloader for sale

They are an awesome gun! My wife hunts with two of them. I bought an extra that my wife uses as a "backup" in her tower blind. If she ever wants/needs a backup shot, no need to try to reload in the heat of the moment. Just grab the other one. :) It has been handy at least once! If I didn't...

    Thoughts on arming teachers?

    Interesting article

Population growth (world wide) was hyped as a really big deal way back in the 50s! Still Concerns me more now than the dreaded "climate change"! Maybe all interrelated??? Isn't going to change a heck of a lot very fast in the years I've got left, but barring a world wide catastrophic loss of...

    Interesting article

NPR has an agenda? Surely you jest! Next you'll claim MSNBC, CNN and many/most others do too... Agree, that with populations growing, and with urban development, less available land, lower percentage of hunters may not be an all bad thing. Just as long as the ones who do...

    Hearing protection for hunting?

Electronic ear muffs that shut or loud (harmful) noise and can even amplify other sounds are actually quite inexpensive these days. No excuses! Use them NOW or wish you had later!!! Wish I had not been so cavalier about it many years ago!!!

    Sugarbeets

Pretty much agree with what's been said. From what I've read it seems like they aren't worth the hassle in this country (Iowa)... I know some do plant them but I'm still trying to get my local deer population to get on radish & turnips (after 4 years)... They seem stuck on the corn & soybeans...

    Hearing protection for hunting?

I don't use anything when I hunt. Say what??? I know I should, but don't. That said I don't shoot anything with a muzzle brake (anymore). Recoil is much less a problem (for me) than muzzle blast. I do wear muffs for the range as well as chainsaw work, but a "day late & dollar short"... :( My...

    Senior License?

If you are referring to the "lifetime hunting license" available to those over 65, it covers the regular hunting license. Also those over 65 do not need to purchase a habitat stamp. Deer and turkey tags are still required as are federal and state waterfowl stamps if hunting them. See page 4 of...

Rescued a gal having a bad day

She may well survive, but likely will lose the leg that was caught. Between the cuts around and tourniquet action of the wire, it likely lost blood supply to lower leg. Three legged does do pretty well. Good luck to her... Good job giving her a chance!

    Smokeless ML Project

Think I'll try to convince my wife that she needs a smokeless for the 75 yard shots out of her tower blind. Then I can give her mine and get me a "badder" one... Hope you'll stay active on the site after your move Luke.
